This Thing We Do

I managed to get my wife and neices on the plane and headed for the Philippines, though using a cattle prod would’ve made the job a lot easier. They’ll get there in about 23 hours, plenty of time for me to warn the poor country of their impending arrival.

Got a call from a local High School coach yesterday. Wants me to drop by and work with his throwers tomorrow. The local college has re-opened their field so I’ll be practicing there.
Wife stocked up enough food for me to last a couple of months on. Got everything I need for my kitchen project ready. Looks like 2 weeks of lifting, throwing, and eating. Got a few videos lined up I’ve been saving for me and the dogs to watch. Ah, the wild and crazy life of a bachelor. Back to lifting tomorrow morning.

No throwing with the High Schoolers today. Started pouring last night and hasn’t quit since.

I wish I’d started doing box squats years ago. They’ve really helped my form. There are a lot of articles on-line about how and why to do them. I found helpful info on the westside web site.

I think you cooked all the food for the two weeks last night.

Tonight I did what any real man does when in need of food. Went to Mama’s house for dinner. She won’t let her little boy starve. Couple of other brothers were bacheloring it tonight so they showed up, too. Schnitzel, wurst, und kraut mit ein erdbeere (strawberry)torte für dessert.

A totally useless bit of trivia. Ian Fleming only wrote one work of fiction other than the James Bond series, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.

I think he also wrote a series similar to Fletch. can’t remember the main character’s name, but he drank Finlandia out of his freezer. was a private eye. I read an excerpt in playboy back in 1985. Check this out, a girl I went to hs with, I graduated in 81, she in 82, was, I believe, miss May 1984. I always figured she’d look good naked, but Dang!

Taking a break from the kitchen work. We’re under Tornado watches and it’s supposed to be a real crappy evening. Got a call canceling my Highland games practice tomorrow. Wussy Scots. Fraid to run around an open field holding a 20’ pole during a thunderstorm.

Spent most of yesterday without power. Lots of heavy rain and wind, couple of Tornado sightings to the west. Cleared up enough last night to get to brothers resturant. Crawdads, shrimp, oysters, taters and corn on the cob with pichers of beer. I did make a pig of myself. More crappy weather in store for today.

Got the flyer via email for my Highland games in June. Looks like real fun. Going to be a full gathering complete with piping, dance and border collie competition. Lots of vendors and food.
