This Thing We Do

Carl and your niece have me rolling in laughter on the floor. Your doing damn good work big guy!

Did a quick leg, back workout this morning. Off to the Vets home to make breakfast and get all the guys to the parade. VFW and American Legion have a big barbque set up for afterwards and my brothers are in charge of cooking so there goes any type of diet for today. Thanks to all who have served. Enjoy your day.

Thank you Hel for your many years of service to this great nation. All of us need to remember and honor the sacrifices of the service men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Thank you!!

Ditto for me.

x4 Thanks Hel! and all the others serving (past and present).

Everyone survived yesterday and we got them all back home safe, well fed, and sound. Lots of really got stories were told, some even true. Guys really enjoyed themselves.

Several of the women may have sore rears from a pinch here and there. Couple of good bottles of hooch did turn up, courtesy of one of my brothers, and a box of cigars from my evil wife. Never claimed they were saints.
Back to the gym tomorrow.

So is that how it works? Skidmark throws down the “most muscular” thing, and hel320 trumps him with tickets to the GUN SHOW !!! Fan-f**ckin-tastic. Great shot, great work and keep it up. Maybe a little side-chest nextime?

Thanks Z-man, I need to learn to pose and set the timer on my camera first. To embarassed to ask anyone to take the pictures.

No worry there, Carl. As my niece has told me, “Uncle, your body looks younger than your face?” Anyone know any face exercises?
Art, don’t think I’m really cut out for the body building thing. Never gonna compete at it and I miss going after the heavy lifts. Haven’t thrown any lately or gone for any big lifts so I’ll have to see how it’s affected me there.
Thanks Geech.

Tried to read some posts before my work out last night and kept getting all kinds of wierd stuff. Kept getting a screen with “Apache server error” or some such and all kinds of crap. Around 1700 central seems to be a real high volume time for this site.

quick question, H: are you doing max reps before failure (leaving 1 in the bag) or are you going to failure on all those sets?

I found that shaving my beard off added ten minutes to how long it took me to get things done in the morning, but made me look ten years younger.

They seem to be adding new features. Every time they do, stuff like that happens. The features aren’t there today, though, so they must have backed out the code changes.

mj, depends on when/what lift I’m doing and with whom. Bench and squats I do each set to total failure,ie, can’t lift the weight,if I have a spotter(s). If alone I go to last rep on each set I feel I can get all the way and still rack the weights. Lifts I don’t need I spotter each set I go til I can’t to the next rep right. Last night cleans went something like, 17,12,8,6 I think but I’m not really counting anymore. I don’t write them that way but I alternate body parts each set so to be accurate my last workout was really

cleans and Ez curls
btn press and straight bar press
etc.
This gives me a rest in between each body part set

Ain’t shavin my head, Elaikases. All kinds of stitches underneath there.

Heard the retailers are worried about the upcoming season. Mail volume has gone through the roof on sales ads. Holiday season, for the stores at least, has already kicked in. My joke to start of the season.
Every year we get a lot of letters to Santa. Lot of carriers will write answers to the kids. SO…

A carrier picked up a letter from little Suzie to Santa. Returning to the station he open it. Inside it said, “Dear Santa, we are very poor so if you could I would like a $100 to help Mommy and Daddy with the bills.”

The carrier was very touch and took up a collection. Being underpaid, overwork victims of a fascist management (sorry, heard the joke at the union hall), they only raised $95. The carrier delivered this in enevelope addressed to Suzie from Santa. A few days later he picked up another letter from Suzie to Santa. Opening it he read “Dear Santa, thank you very much for the $95. I know you sent $100 but those thieving bastards at the post office stole $5 of it”.
Going swimming now. Weights early in the morning.

Being one of the fascist bstards, I had to laugh like hell at this one!

Early this morning.

Squat
135,225,275,295 x max
Pullups
3x6 x bw
3x6 (assisted)

Leg Ext
135 x Max x 5
Bent Row
135,185,205,225 x max

Leg curl
70 x max x5
Face pulls (rope)
80,90,100,110,120 x Max

Calve raises
180 x max x 5
Seated row
140 x max x 5
Been fooling around with foot placement/width. Wider stance today. First time I actually felt the squats in my gluts and hams but felt stonger. Going to drop the high reps on the squats and see if I can start raising the weight some. Hope I don’t have a bad case of buttlock tomorrow.

Especially when you make that jump up 4 steps with all the holiday catalogs!

This morning did chest and tris and at the end of the workout realized I wasn’t happy with it. Not really enjoying them the way I should. Sitting naked and sweaty in the sauna (threw that image in to ruin your well planned meals) I contemplated my dilemma. 1) Don’t enjoy my present work outs. 2) doing too many lifts. 3) miss going heavy. 4) I haven’t recieved my invitation to the presidential inauguration yet.

So I’m sitting here trying to design a program around just getting strong. It will center around trying to bench and squat at least twice a week and deadlift once. My sticking point is with all the ancillary lifts which I’m trying to nail down. Time to go back to what I really enjoy and that is to just lift heavy shit.
And I decided to give the Pres elect one more week to cough up the invite.
