Yeah JW I was. If I can get my squats back up I’ll start concentrating on my deadlifts and bench. Might start looking around for some powerlifting meets then.
Had a great time last night. Didn’t do anything except go for a swim this morning. Rest of the day was spent on yard work. Back to the gym early tomorrow.

Running around with the wife all day. One of my nieces turns 21 tomorrow so she, my wife, and about 10 other nieces and sisters-in-laws are off to Vegas for 3 days. Hope Vegas survives. She’s bought enough groceries for me to survive 6 months. Guess I’m getting old. Only thing she told me not to do while she was gone was let the dogs run wild through the house or go swimming in the middle of the night.

Squats are coming along at a good pace. What do you think of the face pulls? Do you think they are providing you with some additional shoulder mobility? They are a great exercise to balance the shoulder out and help with rear delt/trap issues.
mday, I’ve got to say of all the exercises I’ve ever done the face pulls have showed the most immediate results. Don’t know about the mobility but they are giving me the best workout for my rear traps/delts.

I tried seated face pulls for the first time the other day (I usually do them standing), and I liked them even more. In a seated position, you can really focus on pulling with your rear delts and contracting as hard as possible. You have to lower the weight a little, otherwise you end up on the floor.

Agreed. They’re really effective when you use the low cable row and ab straps around the wrists. Takes the biceps out of it altogether.

My Firday night with the Marquis De Sade and crew went quiet well. Place is starting to get really crowded on Friday night. Three benchs and all of them had a group. What’s happening to the youth of today? Friday Night at a college! They should be out chasing the opposite sex, carousing bars, binge drinking, and all that other higher education stuff.
We did the 5x5s. Pretty good night. First time I’ve gotten back to where I was pre throwing season.

The people getting the guy into it were having a hell of a workout. Doing a lot of singles. It’s really all or nothing with those. You’re either in the groove or it’s a no go.

Your comments and observations always crack me up! As for Friday nights at that age … we trained first, drank after. Right next door in fact!
One of the first gyms I joined was in a strip mall. It had a bar next door and a self-serve laundry on the other side of the bar. It was like one-stop shopping: throw the laundry in the washer, go lift, put the laundry in the dryer, go drink.
On Friday night we went home tired, clean and slightly (or very) tanked. Going to work on Saturday morning was always somewhat of a bitch … sore, tired and hungover.
Hot damn the US won the women’s discus gold! That was uexpected.
Got all the girls home from Vegas yesterday. The house pasted inspection and the dogs keep quiet. Managed to get in an afternoon swim.
