My CC coach used to drive us out to the landfill Payton would run at so we could do hill work outs (there’s a reason Illinoisans are called Flatlanders by the cheeseheads to the north, among other things).

I grew up not too far from where Walter lived and my one brush in with him was at a local fast food restaurant. I wished him luck on Sunday and he said thank you and drove off in a black or midnight blue Countach.
