I suppose ultimately it depends on the value placed on muscle size and strength. I personally just find it silly that some one would be so vain, not an attack, that they would honestly risk wrecking their bodies to get a few more inches or 50 more lbs. when their efforts don’t take them anywhere other than in front of their own mirror. It’s not like they have to be the biggest man on the line, have the best bicep peak to win a sponsorship et cetera. [/quote]
You also don’t need the biggest house, the flashiest car, or the latest outfit. These are vanities…but these are vanities that people partake in daily and glorify.
The attention to bodybuilding as if that is more shallow than spending money on shiny rims makes no sense at all.
Vain? yes. What the hell is wrong with that?
No offense, but someone could make that argument about any of us who have built ourselves to any point that would be considered extreme whether they used steroids or not. I don’t NEED 20" arms to do my job.
Luckily my job does not define me.
Your stance is one of those who has never been all that big and never actually lived the lifestyle.
I LOVE making changes in my physique and weight lifting. It is something I am passionate about. I wouldn’t expect a normal person to understand why I’m still working on muscle mass. They thought I was big 2 years after I started.
Now, I know you are aiming that st steroid users, but again, most of the risks you probably think you know about are likely not completely true…and many of these top pros do go to doctors regularly…so what is the issue?
Bodybuilders…the guys who are the real gym rats…are not normal and never have been.
They also usually don’t want to be.

I hear what you are saying but it still boils down to risk vs. reward, I would lump bodybuilders in the category that steroid use can manifest an outcome with meaning in competition. We don’t disagree.

I think this can be extended out to powerlifters, strongmen, o-lifters, throwers, highland game guys, pretty much anyone that puts serious effort in iron sports.
That is why I think it is so hard to explain WHY. I would expect 99.9% of lifelong nattys “get” why guys use, particularly those that standout without it. But I would expect .01% of “normal” people to get it…
Lifting heavy shit until your nose bleeds doesn’t make sense to outsiders, trying to make your delts bigger than your head doesn’t make sense to outsiders, so using something that lets you get 2 reps with nose bleed weights and makes your delts even larger isn’t going to make sense either, lol.

this~!
I know we’ve gone away from the original point of this thread but I think the guy from the video in the OP had valid points. People should start off small/slow with any supplementation to gauge how it is actually effecting their progress and physique.
Good stance on the situation if you ask me.
I agree with HG though… If you’re lively hood doesn’t depend on it, I just don’t see the point of AAS use. I have several friends who use/have used in the past and I don’t really care either way. They’ve tried to get me to do it with them but I said no. Would it be nice to put on 10-20 solid pounds in a couple months? Hell yeah… But it’s just not my thing.

His thoughts on starting slow were valid, but as Overstand noted, he’s full of all kinds of shit otherwise. Anyone that tells you PHs aren’t steroids is in an extreme level of denial. And I don’t know much about steroid use, but I’m pretty sure low doses of test are recommended for first-time users. I don’t see how that would be the case if it was the most powerful steroid.

I read an article where an editor of a sports magazine went through the gauntlet of performance enhancers, up to HGH.
They started him off on testosterone because it was just a veterinary cream he applied once a day to his skin.
He was a cyclist. At the end he was capable of riding daily 100 mile rides as opposed to needing a week or more to recover between rides.
2:31 supps almost got 'em

He’s so full of shit that EVERYTHING he espouses should be questioned.
However, starting slow is no obscure, Yoda-inspired nugget of wisdom. Shit, one should start slow on almost anything in this life: weightlifting, kissing a girl, drinking alcohol, driving, bull-riding, climbing trees, fucking, throwing a boomerang, building a nuclear weapon…ANYTHING for crying out loud.

Oh I’m with you. It’s not like he invented the concept of moderation.
lol PH is a “supplement” what a tool

I could say the same thing about sports cars. If you don’t race professionally, why drive a sports car (or bike)?
If you don’t play guitar professionally, why do you need a vintage Les Paul and Marshall amp?
If your livelyhood doesn’t depend on it, why go fishing with pro-level equipment and boats?
Next thing is someone is going to tell me “You don’t need all that money”… oh… wait, nevermind.
Why get a new pair of bolt on titties if your livelyhood doesn’t depend on it?
I swear the attitude on these boards is bullshit. If someone wants Vitamin T, they should have access to it. Some douchebags (both sides) in DC fucked it up for everyone.
If I want to take a ‘supplement’ that makes my body huge, I’m not seeing who the victim is here.
If you want to go chop off my penis (or get one attached), and take hormones to change your gender, you’re praised for your courage to express your true self. If you want to take a hormone to make your quads bigger, you’re shunned. Ri-fucking-diculous

Oh Steely using logic again…when will you ever learn…you would think someone at your age would understand this…
Can the U.S. Govt tax it or control it is all they care about, logic is not used.

Maybe because some people want to be the best they can be. I will never ever be average.

Someone is going to chime in and argue that none of those things (directly) endanger your health, to which I’m going to preemptively reply that yes, while steroid ABUSE can certainly cause you harm, they can also be used safely and responsibly. Anything in excess can kill you. One could overdose on vitamins and water if sufficiently deficient in brain cells. Fact of the matter is millions of men (and women!) are prescribed exogenous sex hormones every day. There are mountains upon mountains of literature on the subject. The rest is misinformation, vilification and propaganda.
