This Carb Thing is Confusing

OK I have a question about carbs. Now assuming my diet should be mostly fats & protein…but what about fruits & vegetables. Every article I’ve read says to still eat them…but they’re loaded with carbs. Orange juice for example has 26 grams…so should I still eat them??

Green fiberous veggies are a green light. Berries are usually are a green light. Juice? Have you read Berardi’s 7 rules? No beverages with more than 0 cals.

There’s a difference between fruit and juice.

Orange juice is not a fruit, it’s just orange coloured sugar. Vegetables are not loaded with carbs and for the most part fruits are not that bad either when compared to other things. Any reason why you are trying to eliminate carbs from your diet?

There’s nothing wrong with a quite moderate number of grams of carbs from fruit, but you still have to count them as carbs. I would avoid getting more than a couple hundred calories per day that way though or about 300 at the most, as personal opinion.

When low carb dieting, you can stay at 50g of carbs per day. You can even go at 100g/day.

Orange juice is a fruit if it is natural juice.

You must take vergies almost everymeal to be healthy.

Don’t take too much fat, it’s high in calories.

Loaded with carbs? Which fruits and vegetables are you talking about?

And, why are you so carb phobic?

yeah have to call you a dumbass on this one , why would some one who has posted over 1000 times ask this question??

Dude orange juice dont qualify as a fruit, im in disbelief.

And id agree with the others in shaking my head @ daverock on his fat comment.

Well, if he is serious about only taking 50 carbs a day, that’s basically a banana and a cup of berries. That’s it. Most fruits have 20-30 grams of carbs for a full serving.

You should be ingesting some kind of carb source with your protein shakes, so there goes 1 serving. Pretty hard to keep it under 100 per day. You’ll lose fat for sure if you do.

No it’s actually quite simple. If you are very anal and strict, you are not allowed to count your PWO shake. BUT we all know that that meal is pretty much independant of anything else you eat that day. It’s also not optional so I don’t count it. When strictly fat burning I shoot for 50 Grams of carbs per day, NOT including my PWO Surge. Stick to Spinach, Broccoli and green beans and you will easily stay under 50 grams, and that is eating a TON of those.

Generally speaking, ripping fat off is a temporary thing, I don’t mind going without fruit while cutting because it’s temporary. If you feel like you will melt without fruit, Berries or red delicious apple are the best choices. And ONLY first thing in the morning. You should probably not be doing a 50G carbo diet for more than a couple months at a time, so keep that in mind.

ok so milk has a ton of carbs in it too…so milk is bad if you’re trying to limit carbs?

There labels on milk?

I just keep the udders in my mouth until I’m done. Nice and creamy.

well yeah.

BUt what I’m saying is that if anything with carbs in it is bad that pretty much leaves you with meat and a few vegetables to eat…

I wish there were articles on this site that explained all of this in simple black & white language. most of the articles on nutrition here already assume you know all of this stuff.
