Whats chicktuna? Please can you just explain my question if you know. I am a junior right now and I still have time to think. I know if I had a reason to join I could make it but not if I had to give up everything I work hard for the rest of my life. I know I can’t work out during BUD but can you after. If anyone has any sources I can look up please.
After they wave their wands over you and say abracadabra you’re a SEAL, you’ll go through who knows how many months more of training and getting treated like shit. then, you’ll get stationed somewhere and you’ll eat shitty chow hall food and PT once a day. Or you might hump out somewhere on a Monday at 4 in the morning and not come back until Friday night and then they’ll cut you loose for the weekend, where you’ll just sit on base and clean your gear anyways cuz none of you have cars!
Your best bet is also one of your worst, go to the NAVY recruiter and ask him all types of questions, but ALWAYS REMEMBER - hes just there to get you to sign that contract, then he can send you off to be a bulk fuel specialist for the next 5 years for all he cares.
Thanks but im joining the military maybe not an elite forces but I will join the military. What will be the differnce between joining the marines(of course navy seals is harder)but after your done with marine training whats the differnces between marines and Navy Seals(Navy seals after you passed)? Is it any different in terms of eating and lifting?
As a marine, I have no idea how SEALs train after they get a permanent duty station. I don’t know what their deployment turnover rate is and even all the places they are being deployed around the world. Since theyre supposed to be lightning fast getin-getout go-at-a-moments-notice type of shit, most SEALs might just be on a ship 24/7 for months at a time. These would be good questions to ask and I wouldn’t sign anything until you had a crystal clear view of how SEALs live.
the best place to get answers would be an active-duty SEAL.
Thanks but how do what do marines do?

OP, what is your motivation. Do you think having the title of SEAL is going to get you into bars and beat up all the dudes and pick up any chick you want?
Do you think you’ll be able to drift into a small town, piss off the sheriff, beat up all the deputies in the station, escape into the woods, live off the land, eat things that would make a billy goat puke, then rob a gun store and blow up said town.
Or do you think you’ll be a lowly cook and save a Navy ship(or train) from a terrorist take over all by yourself with a hot supermodel on your arm and Gary Busey at the helm Dream on buddy ;)
No I want to accomplish something big in my life. Get a challenge and once I accomplished it be happy that I did. Yes, I made the varsity team but making the Navy Seals which has one of the hardest training in the world.

Roger, The fact that you posted a thread asking if you should join the Seals and if you will have time to train means you dont know shit about the Seals and your not serious.
Guys who are serious about the Seals know what there getting into and dont ask a bunch of dudes if they should do it.They do it for themselves, and remember Seals are ghosts, there heroes but not the kind on the frontpage of the newspaper.
I dont know what I am getting into and thats why im asking. Yes I know how hard the training is but I do not know how they live.

Big guys packing lots of muscle (or fat for that matter) have a big disadvantage.
I totally agree pushharder.
I was in the South African Infantry, based on the Angolan border for years.
I lost 35 lb’s in my first 6 months, and there was absolutely NO chance of putting that weight back on. Being in the bush for 6 weeks at a time, walking (sometimes running) about 30km a day, carrying about 50lb’s of kit and living on rat-packs. NO fucking chance of packing on muscle. Wouldn’t want to anyway, just extra weight to haul around everyday.
Navy Seals must be 10 times worse.
The kid has no clue what he is talking about.
I know I will lose weight but when you say have no chance to put weight on you mean you lose and can never gain it back? I know I will lose mass during buds but its a risk and I want to know about gaining some after buds but many of us including me do not know how they live or even have time to work out cause you could be stationed somewhere 24 hours with no gym. Those things are hard to find out.

Don’t listen to these haters, man. Yes, you can lift during training. They actually encourage it. When I went through BUD/s, I woke up at like 10AM, had a kickass breakfast with my boys and DI’s, then we’d hit the weights, I mean hard! Followed up by a little bit of cardio on the beach. I can’t wait to go back. 5 stars!!!
I heard they had an 11am cupcake break followed by High Tea and Cucumber sandwiches at 2pm. Confirm?
Roger that! Those sandwiches, OMG! Delish. I am a sweetaholic, and earned the nickname of ‘Cupcake Queen’. Even went and got this tattooed on my lower back.
I went through USMC boot camp last year, and we had weights in our squadbay that we could lift during our square away time. It wasn’t much, and I didn’t get any bigger. I’d suggest stickin to dips, pullups, scuzzing, and eating as well as possible in the chowhall

Hey guys im thinking of trying out for the navy seals. One thing that I am scared of is not being able to work out,eat right and sleep enough. Anyone know how they work out with weights and If you heard about Hell Week were you only get 4 hours of sleep a week for a week which could not be good for your workout. Anyone Know??
do you know anything about buds training? you wont be eating , working out, or sleeping. A/E I believe did a series on buds training. Youtube it. If you have to ask about working out during buds you dont know what it entails and should just not try out. you have no idea about anything.

OP, if you want to be big, you DON’T want to be a SEAL. You want the physical characteristics that will keep you alive. I know 2 former SEALs, neither are big (also, both are very soft-spoken, unassuming guys). The guys the Navy actively recruits for SEAL duty are endurance-type athletes: mountain climbers, ultra-marathoners, etc. You need to be able to push yourself for what seems like forever, endure long past exhaustion, then fight and survive. THEN try to get home. Big guys don’t typically do this well.
Well I used to run track freshman year for long distince. I ran a best of 5.30 and hurt myself and was not able to try to beat my PR. Now I got slower at 6.30 and I never run or do any cardio but If i decided to do it I would join track to get back in shape.
Yep, joining a hs track team is a tried and true shortcut for breezing into the navy seals.
I’d be careful about leaking that strat, though. You don’t want too many people getting a leg up on you.

Dude first of all you don’t just join the seals, they are selected from the spec ops community. Second if you even question for a minute if you want/and or can do it then you won’t make it.
The seals arent selectde from the ops community. They start out just regular guys in the navy just like any other special forces start off in thier respective services and they volunteer to go through the training and if they happen to make it then they are a part of the force
The last you thing you should possibly be worried about is whether you will be affecting your diet or body composition. It should be whether you can make it through a week of BUD’s. The point of hell week is through physical and mental decomposition, you can continue to strive. That includes ketosis and lack of sleep, sorry! I think you have a lot to consider over your body and diet. eeks
If all your worried about is when your going to be able to start lifting again then do yourself a favor and don’t join the military. Your obviously too self-centered to be able to offer anything to our Brotherhood.
If for some miracle you make it through any training, let alone Marine Corps boot camp or BUDs, then your going to be the turd that drags everyone down and inevitably gets someone killed. At the end of your contract your going to be lucky if you can still lift weights… that is… if you make it to the end of your contract. Physically your going to be an old man by the end.
So instead of dirtying my Corps just thank the service men you meet and buy us a beer.
Semper Fi
Wait…
So you’re actually “thinking about joining” the fucking Navy Seals?
You think you can just fill in an application and start killing people?
Wow, you’re in for a rough awakening, dude.

Its more than that. I know hell week I would loss weight but I know plenty of marines and yes marines are nothing compared to navy seals they still are able to lift weights after there done with bootcamp cause I do not think they can lift physically during bootcamp but later they are able to. After you pass 6 months of intense training you should be able to. That is what I am worried about but I pretty much know you can so I am not worried anymore.

Shout your mouth. You care about how you look cause you found T-Nation. Do not be a hypocrite. I do not mean work out during BUDs and if you read the board you would know. P.S. You do not know me so I suggest you to not even write to me.
