Thinking About Joining Navy Seals

Don’t listen to these haters, man. Yes, you can lift during training. They actually encourage it. When I went through BUD/s, I woke up at like 10AM, had a kickass breakfast with my boys and DI’s, then we’d hit the weights, I mean hard! Followed up by a little bit of cardio on the beach. I can’t wait to go back. 5 stars!!!
I heard they had an 11am cupcake break followed by High Tea and Cucumber sandwiches at 2pm. Confirm?

Pretty sure there is an IQ requirement for special forces as well.

Whats chicktuna? Please can you just explain my question if you know. I am a junior right now and I still have time to think. I know if I had a reason to join I could make it but not if I had to give up everything I work hard for the rest of my life. I know I can’t work out during BUD but can you after. If anyone has any sources I can look up please.

After they wave their wands over you and say abracadabra you’re a SEAL, you’ll go through who knows how many months more of training and getting treated like shit. then, you’ll get stationed somewhere and you’ll eat shitty chow hall food and PT once a day. Or you might hump out somewhere on a Monday at 4 in the morning and not come back until Friday night and then they’ll cut you loose for the weekend, where you’ll just sit on base and clean your gear anyways cuz none of you have cars!

Your best bet is also one of your worst, go to the NAVY recruiter and ask him all types of questions, but ALWAYS REMEMBER - hes just there to get you to sign that contract, then he can send you off to be a bulk fuel specialist for the next 5 years for all he cares.

Thanks but im joining the military maybe not an elite forces but I will join the military. What will be the differnce between joining the marines(of course navy seals is harder)but after your done with marine training whats the differnces between marines and Navy Seals(Navy seals after you passed)? Is it any different in terms of eating and lifting?
As a marine, I have no idea how SEALs train after they get a permanent duty station. I don’t know what their deployment turnover rate is and even all the places they are being deployed around the world. Since theyre supposed to be lightning fast getin-getout go-at-a-moments-notice type of shit, most SEALs might just be on a ship 24/7 for months at a time. These would be good questions to ask and I wouldn’t sign anything until you had a crystal clear view of how SEALs live.
the best place to get answers would be an active-duty SEAL.

Why are you not doing burpees instead of typing?

It’s not for you.

OP: If you’re honestly not a troll and are just retarded and young, buy a couple of legitimate books on the subject and talk to active duty or veteran servicemen when you get the chance.

Marine Corps: One Bullet Away, Joker One

SF (Green Berets): Chosen Soldier

SEALS: The Warrior Elite

And if your prime concern is whether you can lift and eat plenty of protein, don’t bother.

I enjoyed the myopic dream of “being in better shape when I get out.” When the San Diego festivities are over which could be a few hours or a few weeks your body will most likely be broken, bruised and battered. Tendinosis, tendinitis, chafed raw skin, all kinds of joint pain, ligament problems, lost muscle mass, pre-hypothermia and/or actual hypothermia and psychotic maladies will be your companions among others.

Big guys packing lots of muscle (or fat for that matter) have a big disadvantage.
I totally agree pushharder.

I was in the South African Infantry, based on the Angolan border for years.

I lost 35 lb’s in my first 6 months, and there was absolutely NO chance of putting that weight back on. Being in the bush for 6 weeks at a time, walking (sometimes running) about 30km a day, carrying about 50lb’s of kit and living on rat-packs. NO fucking chance of packing on muscle. Wouldn’t want to anyway, just extra weight to haul around everyday.

Navy Seals must be 10 times worse.

The kid has no clue what he is talking about.

Motherofpearl,
Yes, you will have plenty of time to lift and recover as you desire. SOCOM exists for your benefit. Think of it as the HR department of the military.

It’s obvious this thread will keep going until he gets this response.

DB

OP, what is your motivation. Do you think having the title of SEAL is going to get you into bars and beat up all the dudes and pick up any chick you want?
Do you think you’ll be able to drift into a small town, piss off the sheriff, beat up all the deputies in the station, escape into the woods, live off the land, eat things that would make a billy goat puke, then rob a gun store and blow up said town.

Or do you think you’ll be a lowly cook and save a Navy ship(or train) from a terrorist take over all by yourself with a hot supermodel on your arm and Gary Busey at the helm Dream on buddy

Mentioned earlier, but anybody who has not read “Lone Survivor” should. It describes Hell Week, and then one helluva mission in Afghanistan.

It:

 • Is the “coolest” book I’ve ever read
 • Is a tragedy
 • Made me want to burn down the New York Times building in New York City. F-ing Treasonous bastards.

Roger, The fact that you posted a thread asking if you should join the Seals and if you will have time to train means you dont know shit about the Seals and your not serious.

Guys who are serious about the Seals know what there getting into and dont ask a bunch of dudes if they should do it.They do it for themselves, and remember Seals are ghosts, there heroes but not the kind on the frontpage of the newspaper.

You have to have the ability the Navy needs you to have which means you will train how they want you to train. They will mold you into a warrior elite to get the job done…As stated being bodybuilder huge is not going to help you complete the mission which is all that matters to a warrior elite.

Just join the Corps. The crucible, which is a joke, will be the hardest thing you’ve ever done and will give you a good idea on what you are capable of. Then request to go to sniper school, then Recon…you’ll probably be a cook, but give it a try anyway.

OP, if you want to be big, you DON’T want to be a SEAL. You want the physical characteristics that will keep you alive. I know 2 former SEALs, neither are big (also, both are very soft-spoken, unassuming guys). The guys the Navy actively recruits for SEAL duty are endurance-type athletes: mountain climbers, ultra-marathoners, etc. You need to be able to push yourself for what seems like forever, endure long past exhaustion, then fight and survive. THEN try to get home. Big guys don’t typically do this well.

Hey guys im thinking of trying out for the navy seals. One thing that I am scared of is not being able to work out,eat right and sleep enough. Anyone know how they work out with weights and If you heard about Hell Week were you only get 4 hours of sleep a week for a week which could not be good for your workout. Anyone Know??
My friend, I can tell from what you wrote you don’t have a shot. No offense but the Navy is not something you wake up and decide you want to join. Weights? That would be the last thing you want to see.

To answer your question, no, it would not be good for your workout. Seals are not very concerned about their workouts and maintaining mass. Start in your backyard for a week with limited food, wet, and no shelter or try the Coast Guard.

Lol- whatever happend to chicktuna? True troll job… I think I need to go take a chick, better wipe my tuna…

If you lack the ability to do simple internet research on training and life as a(fill in the blank) then the SOF community has no place for you.

I read the OPs initial post a few days back and thought to myself "This kid aint got a CLUE in the world what becoming a SEAL represents…if worrying about lifting is a concern to him he is so disconnected from the reality of being a SEAL + so far away from the necessary mindset to even THINK of DREAMING of ever becoming a SEAL… it`s ridiculous".

I`m glad some of you have put him back in his place. Jesus H Christ…too many kids watching too many movies and playing too many video games without a fucking clue as to the real world these days.

Never met a SEAL but I have heard and read about the training, mindset, etc. They are bad, bad, bad motherfuckers. This kid is not.

My dad was in Force Recon (I never joined due to being busy rebelling against him when I was young enough)

He once told me “I could only do 300 pushups and 18 pullups” . oh “only” lol.

He won’t talk about it but I hear stories from his buddies. He was the biggest guy at the time. They had these swimming relay races. But he was mad the other guy wasn’t fast enough (my dad was the fastest swimmer). So my dad had the other guy tie a rope around him and put a loop at the other end. When it was the other guy’s turn for the relay my dad just slipped into the rope and tugged the other guy behind him! They let him win like that I guess since the other guy didn’t swim just floated behind.

That was back when they still used corporeal punishment. (well maybe they do still I don’t know but then it was out in the open).

Whenever there are survival shows on tv and people eat grubs or whatever my dad will say something like “i had to eat those those are good”
