And so it begins. Ask not for whom the tax man cometh… It will be glorious to see the bewilderment and head scratching when they don’t collect half what the CBO predicts they’ll collect. Because those rascally rich people
will develop strategies to keep their assets.
Is there a way to make my middle class look like poverty? I’m afraid they’ll somehow view me as rich and expect more.
Someone called a radio station with this joke earlier this year. There was stunned silence followed by the presenters clumsily stumbling over their words to change the subject. I had never heard anything like it before, funnily enough, not even when someone had launched into an actual racist tirade…
I thought how wild is it that political correctness has people so on edge that folks are shellshocked by something that is simply about racism/sexism/etc
Move to a double-wide? buy a bunch of ATVs on credit?
Yea man … PC truly is shackles for the mind
In that same vein - “Trigger Warnings” make me chuckle (and the “this post might be offensive” cover on Facebook).
Really, you have to be warned that someone has an opinion different than yours or that real life is inherently messy and disgusting? I follow a lot of hunting pages and I have to click to allow me to see the images of the hunters after successful hunts. This is somehow offensive but meat on the shelves at the grocery store isn’t?
I have to laugh - otherwise I would go insane.
Militant vegans would disagree … oddly enough I enjoy shows that show the butchering of animals. Like sides of beef hanging on the hooks. I find it fascinating how much work goes (or used to go) into butchering an animal.
Funny story, a few years ago, my wife and I took a trip to the Azores … very rural islands belonging to Portugal but largely autonomous and unique compared to the mainland Portuguese culture. Anyway, we were driving from one side of one of the islands to the other, coming around a bend in the road and on the side there were 3 men, a goat, and a very large knife. Pretty sure they were butchering the goat on the side of the road.
Sometimes you just have to get that protein in.
Probably just Palestinians looking for a hot date.
Just cease all working activities for about 3-6 months. Most middle class people don’t have emergency funds and that’s long enough to get your mortgage foreclosed on.
Or you could buy investment real estate. Depreciation shields alot of taxes. When you run out of depreciation with property 1 use a 1031 exchange when you trade up to the next bigger property and pay no capital gains taxes or depreciation recapture. Then depreciate the larger property. Rinse and repeat.
I tried a different approach. I bought a rental property and then sold it for a loss. Ha!
Well, if the goal was appearing like you have less assets congrats! You did it!
Also don’t bum too hard about it. Every single business incurs losses. Don’t let it scare you away from RE.
I’m looking forward to doing my taxes for 2019, though!

Saw Arnold in an Eddie Hall video at some pay event. He “re-interpreted” a famous Terminator line…“Live with me, if you want to come.” Oops, he said, lol.
That must be the pickup line he used on that housekeeper.
