Things That Make You Chuckle

I’m more intrigued why you weigh yourself with clothes and shoes on?

I’m also intrigued by “as someone who does this for sport”? I can’t find a logical reason why that would need to be said?

You’d rather an honest “I do this for punishment of past-life sins”?

Is self flagellation not a sport?

He’s trying to qualify himself as an authority figure on the subject.

“Doing it for sport” as opposed to what? Doing it for a living? Or is he trying to pass himself off as a powerlifter?

He might compete but what he’s really saying is “I’m better than you so you should listen to what I say.”

I think my dad might be gay.

Just not sure which one.

I wish he had deadlift videos up for me to critique

Think I blew a disk out. As a joke yesterday I got on my hands and knees and tried to twerk for the wife. It was funny until my lumbar asked WTF? Yeah not doing that again.

Please can we see a video of you twerking?

This goes under things that piss me off. You’d be hard pressed to get through comments on a lifting video without tips on form or an explanation of why it isn’t really all that impressive. Cue any sumo deadlifting or benching with the slightest arch. The most recent one was a guy pulling 800lbs. It was solid. Some knob said it looked like he used too much back and should drop the weight and work on technique.

Are you kidding me I love the form police and the advice squad.

I remember IMMEDIATELY after I pulled 600 for the first time this guy who just started deadlifting, couldn’t even pull body weight, told me how I could have lifted even more weight if I didn’t waste all my energy working up to it.

I mean, he almost fell backwards pulling 225. It made a memorable milestone for me even more memorable.

Noobsplaining?

Yep some type of Dunning-Kreuger effect going on. Super enthusiastic dude, way stronger than his lifting buddies. Maybe he let that go to his head a little, but my interactions with that guy were always amusing.

Referring to people I find odd as “that strange little monkey over there” … Not only do I find it inherently funny, but the look of bewilderment on other’s faces is doubly satisfying.

That’s what I figure it is. Six months of training and learning so much, people figure they know it all. I remember once posing a sumo deadlift video and some brain child told me my feet were too far apart. He was so green he didn’t know sumo was a thing. I almost felt sorry for the resulting flames.

Try strongman. I feel people fainted when I did a continental in a commercial gym (with a regular barbell)
