Why did she think Tahoe was part of the Pacific ocean?
Probably for the same reason people think the great lakes are salty oceans. Stuid people are stupid.
Made for lots of funny shark sightings that afternoon while out SUPing
You from that area or just up for a visit?
Down there babysitting my 2yr old niece while my sister and BIL went to a wedding.
Def not a local, but I know Tahoe well.
Vaping = public health crisis = ban
Obesity = positive body image = fast food joint every 17 feet. Way to focus on the big stuff, Cuntomo.
Lmao. New York gets $4.35 in tax per pack of cigarettes. Canāt have those sales slipping. āPublic health crisisā indeed.
Anyone know how much cash Phillip Morris gives to NY Dems? Iāll bet a pack of smokes that number went up recently. Maybe through PACS to give them cover.
They will literally kill you if you avoid those taxes
You want to run an underage prostitution ring? No problem. Hell a NYPD officer will retire and run it for you if you ask nicely enough.
Sell untaxed cigs? Weāll strangle you to death on the sidewalk.
I heard about a guy in Kansas City who is suing Juul because he didnāt know their product was addictive. He now has respiratory problemsā¦
I hope the judge throws it out with the simple explanation of āintentionally inhaling anything other than air is hazardous to your health and thatās on youā.
Not exactly how that went downā¦
They teach us in CPR that if a person is making a noise then their airway is open. So, saying āI canāt breatheā isnāt actually an accurate statement.
Iām pretty sure he died of positional asphyxiation which is still on the people present. Weāre taught to roll big people onto their side and get them upright. If they lie on their stomach then their own body weight can cut off their air supply.
So, I guess to be completely accurate⦠he died because he was obese.
Who says civilians canāt buy tanks? Your move progressives
Sorry. That wasnāt meant to imply all cops are bad people. Merely that some laws are stupid. Selling cigs one at a time shouldnāt be something you get arrested for.
And I know that shit will always go wrong when you try and take people into custody that donāt want to go. I probably couldnāt take even one defiant person into custody without maiming them and getting fired. Cops canāt choose the dumbass laws they have to enforce.
The NYPD thing about retiring and running a whorehouse, that was a real thing. A lieutenant of the vice squad retired and started running the same whores he used to arrest. Except he knew when and where enforcement would be. Made allot of money for a while there.
Never doubted it for a bit. Misinformation about police cases is a pet peeve of mine. The cops screwed up. He was in custody and his death is on their hands. They just didnāt necessarily strangle him to death.
Wyatt Earp used to be a cop or sheriff in my town. I heard that he used to run prostitutes. There must be something about enforcing the law and protecting prostitutes that goes hand-in-hand.
Selling loosies is a stupid crime for sure, but for some neighborhoods, it can be a real pain - regular people are not buying single cigarettes. It makes a street corner a haven for drug users and criminals, it really does. I canāt think of one normal, non-drug/gang-related person who would ever go up to some huge dude on the street corner looking for a single cigarette. Stopping things like that can help clean up the neighborhood, surprisingly.
Iām on the fence with a lot of police stuff, and personally I think nothing is more harmful to police than letting a legitimately at-fault cop get away with a crime, since it sends a message that they can do anything, but honestly - I donāt know of a single person who, when confronted with a giant man doing something illegal (like it or not, itās illegal) right in front of them and then refusing to comply with an order, wouldnāt take said giant man down and restrain him. Still - WHETHER OR NOT āI canāt breatheā means that they actually canāt breathe (which as J said is rare, since you canāt say anything if you canāt breathe), once the guy was yelling I canāt breathe and down on the ground, they could have eased up off of him due to the nonviolent nature of his crime.
I wouldnāt have fired the guy.
And yeah, I heard about the NYPD whorehouse thing. Plus the narcotics detective that just got arrested for selling drugs. Thereās plenty of seriously corrupt cops. Thereās just a lot more good ones, which is why itās so important to properly prosecute the bad ones and acquit the good ones. The media really does make this near-impossible.
Get enough whiskey in my belly and Iād be looking for a single cigarette. Whereās my street vendor when I need him?
Buying a whole pack is trouble!
Iāve sold them many times when asked for one. When they were $5.00 per pack I give 3 for a dollar, when it went up I dropped to 2. One guy actually pulled out another dollar and bought two more one time.
Iāve been asked virtually every time Iāve gone into town for anything. People say Iām approachable (or an easy mark). That kind of stuff freaks my wife out.
Quit smoking in late June. A stemi will do that.
One thing people fail to realize is the justice system. Thereās this thing called proof and lawyers are really good at keeping evidence out of court. We have a lot of technicalities and it prevents key evidence from being admitted. It happens all the time to regular criminals so itās no surprise that it happens when cops are the defendant.
I had a Lieutenant get federally charged with wire fraud. They caught her working a part time job while she was clocked in here. She was double dipping and itās unethical. She e-mailed her time sheet (not sure which job) so they hit her with wire fraud.
Thatās not exactly something with which our courts should be focusing. I arrested two gang members with a gun and weed (still illegal!). Both were convicted felons. Neither got charged with felon in possession of a firearm (a federal charge).
The system is broke. My Lt was treated differently because she was a cop. Average Joe wouldnāt even have been listed in a case.
Iām beginning to question the NYPD retirement plan and pay scale. Are these guys just bad with money or are they set up for failure?
Iāve sold cigs to people who asked and have bought them from people who would sell them if I was drunk and out (donāt smoke anymore, but did for years). Thatās one thing. Hanging on the street corner as a known vendor for it attracts a different clientele. And itās not the drunk guy looking for a cig, itās the crackhead who spent most of his money on crack and has enough left for a loosie.
I 100% disagree. Thatās stealing taxpayer money. Thatās a crime. If youāre working in the law, I absolutely think you should be held to that higher standard. If youāre a cop and you break the law and get caught, you should be prosecuted. Period.
If youāre a violent felon and break the law, you should also be prosecuted. One of those guys was convicted of rape and the other was aggravated battery.
My point is that cherry picking on the part of the prosecutors is BS. The Lieutenant could have still been investigated by the Department and held accountable. And I think e-mailing a time sheet is a pretty weak case for wire fraud.
I think the feds get excited about the wrong things.
