Things That Make You Chuckle

also, watching The White Lotus (season 1) right now … it’s a fucking weird ass show man

Oh, I am not watching any of these, lol. I want to play the Last of Us game first.

And i started playing Elden Ring so that’s taking up my time and interest.

I don’t play video games anymore

But the first TLOU is easily my favourite game ever aside from Fallout New Vegas

But… the second one felt like “identity politics the game”. They pushed through a bunch of woke nonesense… a pivotal plot point is about one character being pushed out of a savage tribe because he/she is a they…

And I found the way they dealt with certain characters to be outright insulting… skip the second one

Fair.

I am playing through Elden Ring which is just a stupidly massive game so it will likely be a bit.

That’s a dead-on review of the second one.

I was so pissed off about it

I went out of a video game hiatus JUST to play TLOU2…

What audience were they gunning for?

And what the FUCK was going on with Abby’s proportions? In a trailer 1.5 or so years from the release of the actual game she looked like a muscular, tough individual

When the game came out she was 10x more jacked relative to any of the dudes, was able to suplex and knock grown men out with one punch… was she a pro boxer or an NCAA freestyle wrestler? No… just a normal gal (becuase gender norms be damned right? Biology doesn’t matter) who is built like an absolute brick shit house.

She didn’t look like that in the portion of the game where you played Abby as a teenager… clearly her base had a resovoir of unlimited tren…

And the sex scene with Abby and whatshisname… Abby looks like a dude… it looks like man on man action…

TLOU part I had the lesbian/lgbt stuff in there too. But it was done in a manner that was actually appropriate… it didn’t seem forced

Whereas the last of us “bigot sandwhich” part II actually pissed me off because they took so… much… time out of the story to explain and detail various love triangles, LGBT issues etc that I honestly couldn’t give a fuck about in the context of trying to move around a post apocalyptic wasteland on a mission for revenge.

TLOU was never meant for kids, but part II kind of feels like it wasn’t meant for ANYONE aside from the developers… like the people working on it were trying to one up one another to figure out who the wokest one of the team was

Wrong time … wrong place…

Developer 1 “Ellie is gay”
Developer 2 “but Ellie has always been gay (true). What if we give her a girlfriend”
Developer 3 “a culturally diverse girlfriend?”
Developer 4 “and they’re going to have a KID together AND we are going to create this other character who is going to have a problem with it!”
Developer 5 “Ellie will mention a bigot sandwhich!”
Developer 6 “what about abby? Surely we can get rid of her female sexual characteristics and rip on some 3-d delts?”
Developer 7 “what if Abby could help some trans guy/girl to safety?”
Developer 8 “wait a minute… wasn’t this supposed to be about Ellie and Joel?”
Developer 9 “Joel? That guy? Let’s write him out. This love triangle between Ellie and Dina is WAY more likely to capture audiences!”

I’m still all butthurt about it because TLOU and even part II were beautifully designed games. I sold part II the week after I beat the game…

If you change the word Sickness to Biscuits in Disturbed’s Down With The Sickness it completely changes the song.

What’s funny?

Did you watch the video at the link?
Her deadpan delivery sold it.

Never mind. Apparently it didn’t link properly.

There is an awesome video floating around of the F-22 taking it out with a sidewinder missile.

Honestly, this whole spy balloon thing is pretty ridiculous.
Is the Chinese government really that idiotic?
A massive balloon, just floating in plain sight…. Seriously….

Also, why was it even allowed to fly for so long up there?

I don’t disagree that the focus on this story is sort of ridiculous as it’s pretty mundane. However, your belief that surveillance balloons are not being used, both by the Chinese and by the US and others, is frankly ignorant. Surveillance balloons are a real thing and they get used.

As to why it was allowed to fly so long, the decision to shoot something down is complicated. Once you know it’s there, you can potentially learn a lot by letting it be. You can also potentially control what is seen and still hide anything that is important.

Yeah. Its not like they sent spies to target our highest institutions, congressmen or senators.

That would be crazy.

This is a FUN thread. NOT PWI.
My funny was not meant to start a debate.

The US government was talking about using spy balloons on its own citizens to track all kinds of things, like terrorists, drug trafficking, etc. back in 2019. The pentagon admitted this was an active project. The FCC and ACLU had huge issues with this. They are a cheap way to have constant surveillance on 25–30-mile radius.

Not to get conspiracy theory crazy, but this entire balloon ordeal stinks.
