Hello Mr. Thibaudeau, if you wouldn’t mind answering a question i would be most appreciative.

I recently read your “take” on Gironda, and found it very good.

In regards to the nutrition aspect, i have a question.

Vince said that raw, fertile eggs stimulated the endocrine system and therefore naturally increased growth related hormones.
Now i have also seen on here, that people say the eggwhite is not properly absorbed without cooking… are raw eggs ok ?

Eggs, as all food high in fat/cholesterol can increase testosterone levels. Can they be eaten raw? They CAN however:

 • Some of the nutrients in the egg might not be absorbed properly
 • There is a slight risk of salmonella poisoning

I have eaten raw eggs before, but I’m not a huge egg man myself so I rarely rely on that strategy.

Hi Thibs!

What are your thoughts about increase intensity/volume and/or carb intake before a week of vacations?

Please note that I’m already on a fat loss diet phase.
My original post is: http://www.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding/trainingdiet_before_a_week_off

I think you increase your intensity/volume with your clients before vacations to supercompensate, but I don’t remeber if it were on a fat loss diet.

Thanks a lot!!

It depends on the client’s goals.

For example, an athlete trying to maximise his performance will deal with the situation differently than someone who is trying to maximise fat loss.

For a fat loss goal I would actually reduce carbs EVEN MORE during the hell week. This gives the individual the freedom to eat whatever he wants while on vacation.

If you completely deplete your glycogen stores, you capacity to store more glycogen in the muscles is increased for around 3 days. So if you start your vacation in a depleted state the first 3 days are ‘‘free days’’ where anything goes as it will mostly be used for surcompensation purposes.

The other 4 days can still have a good carbs/food intake, but reduce it slightly trying to make ‘‘healthier’’ choices of food.

Hello Christian,

iam a recreational cyclist that wants to train seriously. Also i train already for years with weights.

Now i want to improve my cycling i have to become leaner (and lighter). How can i find a good balance between those two i.m.o. conflicting sports.

Whats your opinion?

Great, Thibs!
Thanks for the answer!!

So, I’ll omit the two carb-up meals the week before vacation, but I was wondering if should I omit the half dose of surge during/post workout?

I wonder too if this week is a good idea to increase reps (in range 12-15) the days supposed to train strength, in order to deplete even more?

Thanks for your time again!!

What do you think about milk?

I have some questions regarding supplementation for your 8 Week Bench Press Program.

 1. Would it be detrimental to take vitamin c before and after all the workouts?
 2. Can I take caffeine on the restorative days?
 3. Would it be detrimental to take r-ALA towards the end of all the workouts, not just the Thursday Workouts?
 4. Can i take some creatine and Flamout to bolster this program? If so, when should I take the creatine?

would u recommend against eating up to about 2 cups of assorted nuts over the course of a day, or is that way too much?

Could you be even less precise with your question? The answer would depend on:

 • Size
 • Muscular weight
 • Type of diet
 • Physique objective
 • Daily activity level

Etc
17 years old, 145lbs, <10% body fat, on a bulking diet, doing your 8 Week Bench Press Program.

thib, i play hockey 2 days a week at midnight would the above protocol u outlined be good to use for those days i play hockey to stop cortisol?

Coach Thib:

I just finished the V-diet which has me at around 10-12% bodyfat(tomorrow I will know for sure as I will do a 7 point caliper test). My goal is to get to around 9-10% so I can start adding some muscle(cleanly).

I did some re-search on your recomendations when doing a keto-diet and have some questions:

 1. For my goal the amount of fat that has to be lost isn’t much so I don’t want to go into ketosis since it will take that much more time to transition off to higher carbs which is the approach I will use when I start the lean mass phase.

What would you reccomend as far as carb intake to optionally lose fat while not burning fat/ketones for fuel?

 1. If there is such a way. When should the carbs be consumed?

 2. Should there be a carb-up meal even if I will not be using fat/ketones for fuel?

hey TC

I need a quick fix. I know one does not really exist but I must ask anyways.

I need to lose 15 to 20 pounds in a little less than a month.

i am willing to do whatever it takes…

I also do mma training 5 days a week but its not working well for fat loss…
so should i go…
NO carbs, lots of cardio, and heavy weights?..??

Is it for looks or to make weight for a contest?

Around 0.75g per pound of bodyweight

Peri-workout as much as possible.

Half of your carbs post-workout
1/4 of your carbs pre/during workout
The other quarter should be consumed in the meal 90 minutes after your workout

No

In that case you’re fine eating the nuts
MangoFighter wrote:

I’m not a huge fan of it. But the lactose-free version is fine as it’s very low in carbs and lactose. Lactose makes digestion very hard for most individuals.

Thibs,

Thanks for your answer in regards to dosing of Leucine.

You suggested 2-3 grams per meal. Unfortunately, my food scale isn’t precise enough to figure that out.

Would you say 1/2 tsp. with every meal would be enough, or should I go for 1 tsp.?

Thanks again.
MangoFighter wrote:

Vitamin C, at the correct dose can help lower cortisol. However if you take too much it can be a pro-oxydant, which is a bad thing.

No more than 500mg combined.
MangoFighter wrote:

You should stop or severely limit the intake of any stimulant, caffeine included. One coffee in the morning is fine, but do not use stimulants or caffeine supplements.

No.

Sure… 5g in the morning, 5g pre-workout, 5g post-workout, 5g in the evening.

On your off days only in the morning and evening.
