Carbs are fairly easy to take care off when it comes to pre/post workout nutrition with ‘real’ food as they are plenty of fast-absorbed carbs that come from solid sources.

However it is just not possible to get a solid protein source that is fast-absorbed enough to have the same anabolic effect post-workout.

Studies have shown that to maximally ‘activate the protein synthesis machinery’ you need a sudden peak in blood amino acids and this is accomplished when a relatively high amount of aminos enter the bloodstrream at once. This is called hyperaminoacidemia and it is a signal to activate protein synthesis.

Hyperaminoacidemia requires a fast-absorbed protein, the faster it is the more marked will the anabolic effect be.

Casein hydrolysate (not miscellar or other forms of casein) is the absolute best choice.

Whey hydrolysate would be a close second.

These two are really in a class of their own. Then you have whey powder that is between 80-90% in purity.

Solid food is too slowly absorbed to cause a sudden peak in blood amino acids. So while it can have an anti-catabolic effect, it will not stimulate anabolism as efficiently as casein and whey hydrolysate.
This study found that whey isolate resulted in faster absorption of leucine and BCAA’s compared to hydrolyzed whey. Thoughts?

Hi Thibs,

i also suffer from fat on my lower pecs and you’ve recommnded Rez-V to stop the effects of aromatization, but was wondering if i should watch out for anything after stopping taking e-blockers, also they actually reduce the amount of testosterone in the body since the E has gone down? Thanks in advance

Thib, would really appreciate your opinion on this.

Im taking in 40 grams of fat in my last two meals of the day. Is 40grams of fat too high for a meal or is that ok?

Have you had an opportunity to try Testo Libre? If so, thoughts?

I have no idea what that is.
Sorry I wasn’t more specific. It’s one of Poliquin’s new products. Here’s the blurb I got from them about it:

TestoLibre is a cutting edge formulation that uses an advanced herbal blend to shift testosterone levels in the body safely and effectively. Low levels of ?free testosterone? are equated to a decline in libido, weaker erections and/or a decreased ability to become erect, lack of energy, less strength and/or endurance, loss of height, decreased in the enjoyment in life, being sad or grumpy, less ability to play sports, falling asleep after dinner, or decreased work performance. TestoLibre increases ?free testosterone? levels by unbinding testosterone from sex
hormone binding globulin there by making it ?available? to tissues like the muscles of the body. Salivary laboratory analysis shows a typical increase of 50% in ?free testosterone? levels in the body in 30 days of use. Without pushing the total testosterone levels higher, the body responds as if it had. Testosterone therapy can be dangerous as it may raise other hormone levels with negative effects, but TestoLibre allows all the benefits of increasing ?free testosterone? without the negative effects.

Coach ,

what is Your take on tongkat ali (aka longjack) ? and its effectiveness on raising testosterone ?

Many thanks

Coach,

I was just going though your list of articles and came across a couple and have a question.

In your one article “Destroying Fat
War Room Strategies to Maximize Fat Loss” could I replace the lactate-inducing lifting with your Stripping Fat with Metabolic Pairings? Would this be a good alternative?

Thanks!

hey coach wanted to ask a few ques

1 - why are yielding and overcomming isometrics suitable for different goals (like for hypertrophy why is yielding iso considered better)

2 - is the goal of accumulation phase always size and intensification phase always strength phase? if so then is there any sense to include lactate methods in the latter like pre fatigue, drop sets instead of heavy lifting?

3 - i was looking for a special routine for arms but i dont know which to do between Your Ticket to the Gun Show and Armed For Combat, which one do u suggest?

Thanks for your time!

In the Discussions pages on one of those articles CT does mention it can be done. Also i remember he said it lead to better results. Not sure if it was on the article discussion itself or on the Q and A though

Correct. Metabolic pairings simply are the evolution of lactate training circuits.

It’s effective at decreasing the negative impact of SHBG. SHBG basically binds to testosterone and render it inactive. Eurycoma/tongkat ali lowers that effect. It doesn’t really increase testo level, but leaves more of it free and active.

It depends on what the rest of your day look like as far as macronutrients ratios and quantities are concerned. But without more info, I would consider 40g to be too high for a meal in most cases.

If E goes down, testosterone will normally go up. Rez-V is NOT an estrogen BLOCKER, so you will not have an estrogen rebound when you stop taking it.

Very few companies sell it because it’s about 10x more expensive as a raw material than other proteins. And those that actually sell it often only include very small amounts so that they can claim that it’s in there.

Anaconda will be based on casein hydrolysate and I’m lucky enough to be allowed to use it before evrybody else

Hi Thibs,

I’m currently following the program listed in your Refined Physique Transformation. What supplements do you recommend taking on off-days?

Thanks!

Sorry for not going into more detail.

Im eating 5 meals a day, my first 3 meals are protein + carb meals.
Last 2 meals are protein and fat meals.

Im eating 4000 kcal a day ( i know you dont count kcals but i dont know how else to explain)

I am on a muscle gain phase, how do you recommend i get my fat in?

Coach, I’m 184cm and 78kg (up from 53kg).

I want to get to 90kg, but I have pectus excavatum (Pectus excavatum - Wikipedia) and I fear that I may accentuate my “hole in chest” appearance and overall weirdness if I get bigger.

Should I just keep training and getting bigger or should I try to get a corrective surgery? As these kinds of procedures may put me on hold for 3 to 6 months, should I just do them while I’m skinny? Or it is better to do them after I’ve gotten bigger?

Thanks you’re awesome.

Coach Thibaudeau-

i read in your destroying fat article that working out in am was best, i just had a quick question, if working out at 530 am, should i be getting in some type of protein before my workout? say a protein shake, then Surge WOF or is the Surge enough? There are so many different people on here that say it is not optimal to workout in the morning. All these conflicting opinions just confuse a newb like me.

hi coach
did you get the 2 weeks out pic i sent you?

By ‘working out in the AM’ I generally mean a few hours after you woke up. Something like 10pm. Certainly not immediately when you wake up.

If you have no other choices Surge Workout Fuel 30 minutes before your workout would be sufficient.
