I have used many diets for many different reasons over the past 10 years. I have to say that not one diet matches the research and hard science behind the Zone. Balance between insulin and glucagon at each meal is most important. Omega 3 are the building blocks of the hormones eicasanoids and stay balanced between the - and +. What are the negative sides of this diet besided the retarded blocks. I find my energy is more stable and hunger is lower when I follow the ratio’s at each meal.
Not bad for fat loss and overall healthy eating. Not great for muscle gains without making significant changes to the diet. Good diet for average people though.
Isn’t this the guy that eats Subway subs to keep “in shape”? LOL just kidding, buddy. I don’t support Zone. 40/20/40 P/C/F is what I use, and I like it works better at keeping me leaner. If I don’t cheat. =)
Zone is very effective for mesomorph and endomorph alike. However for the ectomorph, or hardgaining-pencil-pusher, the Zone may be to limiting when trying to gain size. An Ectomorph would do much better with more protein sparing carbs. It comes down to the goals. Are you trying to maintain, increase, or lose?
With the 40/20/40 ratio you use, do you use meal combo’s like Berardi suggests or is every meal that ratio?
I eat according to Massive Eating. Meals separated by at least 2 hours: 1)P+C 2/3)P+F 4)P+C 5)1sc Surge during workout 6)1sc Surge post workout 7)P+C 8)Cottage Cheese
That’s a basic idea anyway.
