The crazy thing about Malanichev is how he trains. He just trains only 4 exercises, the 3 powerlifts and weighted situps. He does nothing else apart from running, it obviously works for him.
I saw a publicity-type video of Malanichev and Koklyaev horsing around, and one of the things they did was to smack a heavy bag around. For sure, Malanichev trains (or has trained) “other stuff”.

Ive seen that vid, its when they got toegther to do a tandem deadlift. Punching a bag is hardly assistance work. Im sure he used to do more exercises in the past but he said for years he has only done the big 3 plus a weighted situp.

I believe you can judge depth on a squat from the front if obviously high or clearly buried. This was neither. It was also in an organization that has typically enforced the traditional rules of performance (i.e., not the SPF or the highPA). Benefit of the doubt should be that the judges made the right call under those circumstances.
Agreed. Calling it high from a video from the front is irresponsible. It’s one thing if it’s about 6 inches high. It’s obvious in that case. But a strict fed + strict side judge + enforcing rules + a close to depth squat…you have to give it to the judges in that case. It’s impossible to judge from the front in a bad resolution youtube video. That’s like calling balls and strikes from the tape of the first base line.
lol, I’m not surprised with all this internet judging.
I was there as well and saw it from the side.
Super Strict Judging and he got 3 Whites.
It was a good Squat.
End of story.
