I gotta say one more thing. The title is priceless: The Wind. I like how he ties it all together at the end, too. ‘Don’t know where the wind will take me, folks! But it’s sure to be windy!’ Give me a fucking break. I think the weeder sitting next to me in junior-high homeroom wrote something similar the day before summer vacation.

I think this post does ask some questions about where this site is going/gone.
To be honest I read a few of the articles on training etc but what really brought me here in 98 was the juicy stuff; Stories like The dead pool, Underground tap, The sex cult of venice beach, the interview with a porn star and Mr Anonymous takes the plunge.
You guys should still throw in a few of those every now and then. Even if they are mainly BS they are an entertaining read.
As for the Prof, well the man was an articulate bastard that had as many people admire him as hate him.
Will I miss him if he is indeed off for good?
I’ll see.

He mentioned Quantum mechanics. Maybe he cracked the mathematical code of the String theory, and busted a hole in the time-space continuum. We’re all in trouble now.

It’s babble, buddy. Pure pablum. Although it does remind me of something that SOMEONE wrote once:
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
It’s not Tupac. But it fits here, I think.

Your 2 posts are amazing. I almost think Prof X wrote that post in an ambiguous fashion just to tweak up people like you and people who wish he would just go away because your egos are so delicate. But cheer up… I’m sure he feels bad that he wrote something that went way over your head.

Yeah, that’s it. He’s so far “up there”, we’d need wings to catch him.
To touch his level of emotion and poignancy, you’d have be at a Lilith Fair concert while simultaneously changing your tampon and reading Sylvia Plath.
Wow. I’m get back from vacation, the page is completely different and this guy writes a crappy post about leaving T-Nation? i thought he was a life time member here. maybe his girlfriend left him for one of the nut huggers writing him good bye notes?
I must say i like the new page though. It’ll take some getting used too, but it looks like it’s much better organized with out compromising the amount of information it holds.

Great post. I did leave it vague. I left it vague on purpose. The only time the true jackasses show their form is when they believe a response isn’t on the way.
DS007 (along with a few others) has posted several times in a thread that he states is a poorly written piece of trash that only his classmates in junior high could outdo.
So, why do people like that keep responding? This thread has been read nearly 7,000 times in just over a day and I know that pisses some of you off. If there is any reason I would avoid this place, it is simply because of jealous nonsense from people who really aren’t doing much themselves.
When I wrote about my grandmother dying http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=927604
, where were the posts about how much of a waste it was and how it is just craving attention? When I wrote about a soldier who was nearly killed in Iraq that I had the chance to observe http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1083336
, where was everyone writing that I think so highly of myself and just want to be seen?
I write. That is what I do. It helped me win $200 dollars worth of supplements here in that writing contest http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1179169
yet a post about me making a pretty large decision in my life gets attacked…because some of you felt it was an easy way to get a quick jab in because I wouldn’t respond back?
For everyone who called me out, why not engage me personally? My computer won’t be unplugged for at least another 20 hours so at least show you aren’t a pussy by attacking me directly. Otherwise, what is one to think?
I am tired of logging in and seeing ridiculous posts by people who clearly don’t even have the drive to reach even the lesser goals they tell us about here. That alone wouldn’t make me avoid posting again. I have things to take care of which is all that post was about. It is interesting though seeing what people read into it…especially the nutless ones who keep quiet at other times.
I promise:
If I move, as in packing my furniture in a moving van, I promise to say “Hey, for anyone who cares, I’m moving”.
If I ever decide to stop visiting and posting at T-Nation, (but why would I?) I’ll just leave and perhaps simply say “I’m leaving T-Nation because…”.
If I ever change careers, I’ll simply say “If anyone cares, I’ve got a new job.”
What’s with all the mystery? I got to like the guy and his call-it-like-I see-it attitude but seriously…
Is all this euphemistic BS really necessary?

OK, now that you’re NOT leaving T-Nation, what’s the deal?
What’s with the mysterious post?
And I don’t think you really gave anyone any choice BUT to “read into” what you wrote however they saw fit. Did you think you spelled it all out very clearly in your OP?
I’ll admit, I kept checking this thread 'cause I was wondering why the heck someone would leave for good. I thought I’d find an actual answer as to what you wrote in the first place and why.
Sooooooooo?

Okay, let’s engage. First off, I don’t think many people give two shits that are tired of “logging in and seeing ridiculous posts by people who clearly don’t even have the drive to reach even the lesser goals…” blah blah blah. More drivel.
Simply because I - and most - do not log onto a message board and crow about “achievement” does not mean that I have not achieved. I could bore everyone about what I’ve done inside and outside the weightroom (AND the competition platform, something that I know is sadly missing from your resume).
Fact is, it’s all just words on a computer screen. And the only reason ANYONE posts ANYTHING is for their own entertainment. In the end that’s all it is. You get your kicks from boasting and posting intellectually weak nonsense. I get mine from making fun of people like you: Frauds. Wanna-bes. Idiots. You know who I’m talking about because you’re it, right?
Second, I want to congratulate you on winning that writing contest! The article, while well intentioned was a bit laughable and not particularly well written. I think that speaks more for your competition than for the work itself. It’s a bit pathetic that you bring it up in some sad attempt at establishing your credibility. But, hey! Well done. Feel better about yourself? Is that what you were after?
Third, you don’t know shit about anyone on this board. We don’t know shit about you. You don’t know our names. We don’t know yours. I see a lot of people sniffing your jock, talking about your integrity, etc. Bullshit. You are what you tell us you are. So stop throwing temper tantrums and challenging people as if you are arbiter of what’s right and true and worthwhile.
As far as the people on this board go, you are a character. You are a guy who sits down and bangs on keys. And that’s supposed to get you respect? This board is entertainment. It amuses me. I’m amused by you because I know people like you. Only people who have NOT achieved become internet icons like you, Proffesor X.
I get some good info from this board and from others. None from you. I know the people on this board who are the real deal. You ain’t it. I’ve been around the real deal my whole life. I’m not going to give you my resume. Again, it’s all just words on a keyboard and I don’t have to prove anything you. I know you can’t say the same, but hey.
But, this IS a lifting board, right? And I can say with 100% certainty that I can outlift you in any lift, any day, in street clothes.
You develop a certain kind of strength, power, athleticism, etc. when you come through a D1 athletic program, compete in powerlifting and o-lifting and are around guys who are so strong and athletic they make you feel like a child. That’s where the humility thing gets developled. Of course, you’ve missed out on all this stuff, huh?

I think if you include, what I call, performance training there are more hard core lifters right now than ever before.
I think the more important question is, what the hell happened to 7 million hardcore lifters?[/quote]
