Here it is, forum…my wife - she stands all of 5’3 and weighs 105 soaking wet. Suffice it to say she a thin girl. She looks great, a wiry frame without an ounce of fat on her. Except the upper thighs. Yes the dreaded upper thigh cellulite - the bane of all women. Odd thing is, that is THE only place she stores fat and she is desperate for a way to access it and do away with as much as possible. She wants my help. I need your help. I know cellulite is just fat and has more to do with the skin over the fat, but what can I tell her training and supplement wise. She eats fairly clean, although mostly carbs and at a calorie level that lets her maintain body weight. So let’er rip. What’s the word. As a side note, I think she has poor lower body vascular health (if that makes any sense) as her legs bruise up if I even look at them too hard. They stay longer than should be normal and she has some, only some, spider veins. She’s also 30. Does anyone have any insight into this or what could help bolster her lower body vascular “integrity”. I think that’s enough to ask before I have to start paying someone for this info., so thanks in advance - from both of us.
I think there’s two things to consider. Something to bolster the vascular integrity (strength of the capilaries) and something to bolster the circulation. Some one else will have to address the first, but yohimbe can help with the second, and I’ve heard of good resultsin fat loss due to the increased lower extremity circulation (as well as increased sexual sensitivity). Might be worth a try.
i remember reading from dan duchaine that yohimbine hcl would work, but that was a long time ago. hopefully some t-mag staffer can give us an update on what to take and the doseage.
I think that your wife’s general problem of cellulite is not that uncommon. Some of my freinds who compete have six packs almost all year long, but they still have some visible cellulite. I think we just like to store fat near the hamstrings. Even if you look at fitness competitors, they are never very lean in this area, and who knows what they use to look dry. I would imagine that her problem would decline if she got leaner, but realisitically, is this really healthy? Some fat burner was supposed to be made to target lower body fat, maybe it was the one with a name like an illegal fat burner, but I may be wrong.
Does she get any exercise? ala weights or cardio?
Regarding lower body fat in women - these areas in women tend to have a very high proportion of alpha receptors (opposite function to beta receptors to which ephedrine loosely binds (not exactly but you get the idea)) When the alpha receptors are stimulated, the message so to speak is to make fat and vasoconstrict. THis is opposite to the beta receptors. So what one theoretically wants to do is to block the alpha (alpha-2 specifically) which will cause vasodilation and some mobilization of local fat stores. It wouldnt burn fat per se, but would kind of move it to a place to be used as a fuel source. Yohimbe happens to be an alpha-2 antagonist and as such fills this requirement. The research points to an ideal dose of 0.2mg/kg BW. One thing to be wary of is that yohimbe is proinsulinemic and as such will promote a greater insulin response in the presence of carbs than you normally would get without it. The fat mobilizing effects would then be negated. Anyways, that dose would be taken with 200mg caffeine first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. 45 mins later do cardio for 30 mins or so and then wait a bit to eat the first meal which should be protein and fat only. That should help a bit with lower body fat.
TO comment on Princess’ observation of fitness competitors, one of the drugs they would take is an anti-estrogen which would definitely make them harder as estrogen obvioulsy makes it a bit harder to get lean. Older female competitors that I have prepared have gotten leaner faster and easier than the younger ones.
I got the book body opus, and in that it is stated that Yohimbe is a possible solution to lower body fat on women, but topically works alot better than orally, but there is a fat burner by GEN that contains the herbal ECA stack and yohimbe. However, if she thin already, then that may not be the way forward. Yohimbe on its own should also alleviate the problem. One thing that i often/highly noted that works in women in this area is anti-estrogens. But I dont know if she would be prepared to go down this route due to the homaonal disruption.
