yes, though many years my junior, i have a huge man crush on jim wendler. his ideas on training mirror pretty much my own, but he says it MUCH MUCH better, and is by far a more accomplished strength athlete than i ever was.
here is a link to him speaking at a EFS seminar. Notice that Alywin Cosgrove is in the background. this is probably the closest T-Nation will ever get to an interview with him.
I especially like the very beginning of part three, where he sites some information from a book published in the early 1900’s by a famous strength pioneer.

Is this allowed in heteroworld? Do we get a free pass for idolizing great men in the manly sports of PL,OL or elite BB’s?
(I hope so, cause I’ve had a few of my own. I’m broken hearted nobody can find pictures of Pavel Pervushin, a super strong and super studly Russian OL back in the seventies who I wanted to be like. And there was Steve Reeves, Arnold, Kaz, oh shit I better shut up.) Doc
All of my dreams came true yesterday when Matt Krocasdofiaoiaweroijadwsfksi came and visited us in London, Ohio. Not only did I get to interview Matt but I also got to train with him.
Of course we did some Kroc Rows.
80x10
100x10
150x10
200x5 (no straps, this was a PR)
Then I pulled out my strap-on and gave the big one a couple of good tugs.
225x8
This is nothing compared to 225x25, but it’s not bad either. You can see my interview with Matt in my training log - it’s a 5 part thang which discusses:
Diet
Cutting weight
Gaining weight
Matt’s core exercises
Matt’s assistant exercises
His training schedule
and a ton more. This is a great interview despite Dave’s camera work. Special thanks to Matt for driving down and taking the time to do all of this.

Apparently Wendler answers the phones at Elite a good bit.
Im planning on ordering a pair of briefs, but now that I have this little tidbit of information Im going to see if Jim can “customize” them for me.
And by customize, I mean autograph the inside of the crotch.
A few weeks ago I sent an email off to EliteFTS enquiring about sending a yoke bar to Australia, althought to my dissapointment it was going to cost around US$900 Jim Wendler replied to my email, I was reading the reply and then saw the signature I was seriously like “wow… o_O zomg zomg zomg” - hahahaha lol
Jim if your reading this please try and get some local distribution happening for the EliteFTS gear in AUS…I had to settle with a crappy chinese copy one shudders

This is such an awesome piece. Lots of great information in there.
LOL at Alwyn:
“Because they don’t have any traps?”
Was that really Alwyn asking that? If so, MAJOR LOLZ
Yes, that was Alwyn. I was at the conference, and there truly weren’t very many traps there.
Best quote of the day:
“You can not be quad dominant if you have no fucking quads…I hate that…It’s retarded…If your shit’s not hanging over your knee, you’re not quad dominant, you’re just weak.” -Jim Wendler

I had never heard of him until the other day I found a link in some thread…then I spent a soild hour watching vids of him on youtube, pretty funny stuff.
I’m very fortunate to be a friend of Jim; I’ve been out to Columbus to train with him and Dave as well as with Louie at WSB several times.
Jim, like all really good coaches has the ability to make the complex very simple; beware of those who do the opposite!
One of my favourite stories about Jim (I didn’t see this but read about it some place) is when he and Martin Rooney of Parisi Training were training together, Martin is one of those who has helped popularise a mobility based warm up which he was following; Jim said “I didn’t think that you actually do this shit”.
Apparently Martin was speechless. It’s a bit like telling Louie that you didn’t think he really did Box Squats.
Nice thread Heavy thrower; many of yours are. It’s good to see someone understated like Jim get some recognition.
