Wha?

I think for the guys that are in the obese category they need to be more conservative in their eating but when you are thin it’s just about getting in the calories.
I agree with this, although I wouldn’t just limit it to ‘obese’. I’m in the category that I don’t have a problem gaining, I just have to be careful about it. Age + fat gaining ability is a slippery slope.
Great thread and it’s good to see you’re as focused as you are at a young age. It gets harder later…
Yes, after this diet is done, I’m going to bulk back up to 300 lbs, see where I’m at and hopefully be ready for a national show in the next 1 1/2-2 years. I may do a local one first just so I can practice prep and what not, but I’m not sure yet.
I know if I got in contest shape right now I’d probably only be in the 220-230 range, which isn’t going to be winning anything at my height. So I need about 20 lbs more muscle IMO.

damn waylander nice job , would you mind going into your food prep, i know you love potato’s so how do you go about preparing them.
Well when I cook at home I usually just throw like 2 potatoes in a big bowl, put a splash of water over them, cover with saran wrap then microwave for about 8 minutes.
I kinda wonder what your diet was like while you were still living at home with your parent(s). Your poor family probably had to go the store DAILY!! I can’t imagine my own son eating that much in one day, of course he’s only 7 now, but his appetite is already getting bigger…guess I’ll be getting a second job!
Pasta, pizza, whole milk, rice and especially ground beef are going to be your best friends
yup. My mom was really helpful now that I think about it. Later on I cooked most of the meat myself but she always preped the rice (PAIN IN THE ASS)and left me a few really good sandwich’s in the fridge.
I always went to the store on my own haha. I just loaded up on chicken, oats, ground beef, rice, tuna, eggs, milk, broccoli, and potatoes. If you buy all the local brand meats that are about to expire, it’s really cheap. Cost like $150 for almost 2 weeks which isn’t that bad.

You ate a fucken lot dude but you still managed to be pretty fcken lean. What do you attribute to that? High Metabolism? Working out 4-5times a week? Genetics?
I think it is mostly genetics. One thing I’ve learned about my body through out this process is that once I get to a certain bodyfat level (13-15%) I REALLY have to screw up big time to add more fat. I’d say my natural state is in the 10-12% range so to go too much below or above that takes a lot of effort.
Working out 6-7 days a week doesn’t hurt either hah. You also have to take into account that I’m probably walking at least 2 miles everyday going to and from class and at work, being a bouncer, I’m always on the move.

Cool bro, tell me if the time comes next year, 'cause I plan to do a show, maybe we can exchange tips and jack. 300lb is impressive by itself man, keep it up.

Every time I cook a roast I use the after-fat on the tray to cook a few kg of potatoes. There is usually enough fat to totally delicious-ify 2 whole trays.
How bad is pork fat for you, do you reckon? Because just to get the calories in, I think this is the best bet for me.

Like you, I’ve put on a shit load of weight without doing any cardio but started doing it recently when I began to get puffed out from putting my shoes on(gut gets in the way lol). Have you noticed much change in body comp from the steady state? 20mins 6x a week seems excessive?

I’m not going to answer for Waylander, but I like to think I know a thing or two about cardio.
No, it’s not excessive. Just really boring. If you can try to find alternate low-intensity ways of exercising.
If you’re going for a re-comp, have you considered carb/fat cutoffs and fasted morning cardio DC-style? Really easy and quite effective…

will do.
Good. I was thinking 'cause maybe the Gerdy will get to his 250 goal this year… there could be many comps next.

Hey SSC would you mind expanding on this sentence? I understand the fasted cardio but carb/fat cutoffs? Is that basically keeping protein high but inversely portioning fat and cho?

\Hijack
Yeah, it’s a technique DC guys follow when utilizing 2X BW in protein approach. I don’t think it has to be used with such a high amount of protein, but what’s basically done is to cut out fats and carbs 4-5 hours prior to sleep. It’s better if you just say “6 p.m.,” though, because it’s a tangible number so it’s naturally easier to adhere to. The 6 p.m. thing probably wouldn’t be good if you go to bed earler than like 10 p.m., IMO, though.
Anyway, you get all your ‘other’ macros early in the day, but all your meals obviously still need to be a P+C or P+F combination. I pretty much do P+C for breakfast, postworkout shake, and postworkout meal, then do a few meals with P+F, but packed pretty dense in fats, and then in the evenings for my two-three meals I’ll have a protein shake in water, chicken breast, lean ground beef, or something like that. It’s also fine to mix veggies with your lean protein meals at night, too, just as long as it’s nothing starchy like potatoes or corn…
Anyway, I think it’s something that will help spare the physique if even if you don’t use fasted morning cardio (which I’m not for some reason right now.) Anyway I’m pretty sure Waylander has started to follow this approach or something similar, but don’t quote me on it.
