The Vegetable Roundtable?

How about an article based solely on vegetables?

Unless I missed it, there isn’t any such article here on vegetables from a training perspective, nor is there one anywhere on the internet for that matter!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to see this subject covered in terms which vegetables do what for muscle growth/fat loss, etc (in other words, what REALLY matters.)

None of that “eat it, it’s good for your eyes crap”… Give us the real story!

I can’t see much interest in an article like this, but I could be completely wrong.

My motto is simply “if it’s green, eat it”.

Mind you, I don’t follow that rule myself.

I have to agree with paul on this one, at least for me, I have a tremendous desire for a thread or especially an article on vegetables. It could talk about the different types of vegetables, what their positives are, and most importantly different ways to consume more vegetables from cooking techniques to marinades to make them more edible. A good article would really hammer home their importance which would motivate a lot of the readers.

Another reason I think this is important is cause of an article John
Berardi had in the last T-Mag printed issue. He found in a class of exercise science seniors who were about to get their college degree that a huge majority were not eating any vegetables at all.

“My motto is simply “if it’s green, eat it”.”

Of course, Thunder, but I want to know WHY?

And which ones are better over others, etc. etc.

The macro and micronutrient content and GI, and possibly the II, of vegetables is already available.

What more do we need to know?

dude veggies arent that intetresting. green veggies are low in carbs and calories and comprised mostly of water and fiber. eat them as part of your diet. there is no such thing as magic beans, a giant bean stalk isnt going to grow in your backyard.

I agree that vegetables are important. However, all the information about which vegetables contain which nutrients is readily available. You’ll have to use a search engine, but you can find it. I believe that recommended daily intakes for nutrients are available too. I’m not sure whether or not they’re different for bodybuilders.

“I’m not sure whether or not they’re different for bodybuilders.”

Well, that’s one of the things I want to know; one of the reasons I’m suggesting an article on this topic.

The vegetable topic is more of a “general health” issue than a bodybuilding issue, IMO. You’ll see this kind of thing covered in “Men’s Health” magazine.

Which is not to say that at least one well thought out article coming at the topic from a T-man angle would not be a valuable contribution. You can argue that all the information on veggies is out there on other sites if you search for it, but a succinct summary is never a bad thing. Makes for one stop shopping.

I was thinking…

In the time this post has been on the forum you could have done a pubmed search, checked some other websites, and put together a pretty comprehensive article for us all. Just a thought.

I would like to see this article put together also. I mean I didn’t realize the difference between the frozen and canned veggies until an article here at t-mag recently. I get nearly all my carbs from veggies, so this interest me also.
