People like me who started weights and were still in their skinny stage have a lot to learn before achieveing significant results(or at least in my case). I have currently been doing weight exercises for about two years now and it is only now that i am seeing decent results. It is not due to the way i was doing my gym exercises but my poor diet. The hardest thing to me about getting big is defenintly adjusting to a new diet rich in protein and carbohydrates.
Did anyone else find this within their goal of getting big??
Anyone who is not incredibly genetically gifted will find this to be the case. Most people wanting to put on size will have to eat more than they are used to. And if they are fat to begin with, they will have to change their food choices around, and then maybe eat more foods then they areused to.

Being an ectomorph like me Diet counts for everything 6 months ago i was only 133 pounds and 6ft tall but once i got my ass into gear i put on 27 pounds over the 6 months and only then did i see real improvements

What qualifies as “genetically gifted”? All weight lifters have to eat more to gain. Starting out skinny doesn’t mean someone isn’t “genetically gifted”.
maybe i shouldnt of put hard-gainer in the title seems that everyone hates that word around here

What is hated is people using labels as an excuse for why they aren’t gaining. Being skinny doesn’t mean anything other than that you are skinny. It doesn’t mean you are a “hardgainer”. It doesn’t mean you are necessarily an “ectomorph”. What it does mean is you will probably have to drastically change your dietary habits and lifestyle to make serious physical progress.
If more people understood that instead of blaming their supposed body type, I believe more people would actually be making progress.

No, they just need to learn to eat a lot and workout and recover. 3 things. Not “a lot” to learn at all. But if you don’t learn those 3 you go nowhere, no matter how much else you learn.
Bingo!
what the hell did you eat before?

Absolutely everyone, except those who actually ate before starting working out. ie consumed food.
$10 says you are still eating only 60% of what you need to.
When I started I was 130lbs at 5’8.I was only eating chips and soda and nuggets.I’m serious, all I ate.But when I started lifting and that crap didnt fill me up and made me feel like crap I started eating steak.
I started to gain weight eating slightly high cals then before, but it was Food. And yeah if anyone wants to get bigger they have to eat more then they normally do

I agree, “genetically gifted” is BS. Look at Carrot Top for shits sake. That guy was a weed and even he added some size. Genes might give you more size in some areas but over all, the limits you have are self induced.

Even most people with good genetics for bodybuilding are still providing their body with more calories to make gains if they are truly “blowing up”. Having a fast metabolism just means they don’t have to be as strict with their diet. They may respond well to exercises and grow faster…but the basic aspects of training are still there. I personally think anyone who can naturally get their arms to and over 18" has pretty good genetics. that doesn’t mean they didn’t train hard for it though.
I was talking to one guy I train with sometimes who weighs about 230lbs at no more than maybe 8-10% body fat at about 5’10" and he said he was pissed about what another trainer had told him. He was told, “if I had genetics like you, I would be huge too”. Meanwhile, the guy I train with never misses a workout, eats 8 times a day everyday, and has lifted consistantly for 10-15 years.
Sure, it’s all about the genetics.
