The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 2)

Yeah, like I said my son reported that the state took pretty much anything out his school’s library.

I have heard the argument “oh you can still buy those books for your kids”. But, in my school district in some areas almost 80% of the kids get free lunch - those parents don’t have extra income to purchase books or possibly even time to take their kid to the library if they are working more than one job. It’s a bad argument.

@tlgains don’t like that term either. DeSantis is currently doing everything possible to bolster the most emotional and dumbest of his voter support base in prep for his presidential run everyone knows is coming. (All political parties do this - appeal to the lowest common denominator of whatever their target demographic is).

That blog was a great piece of satire.

It just looks like a defunding of libraries generally, not anti-wokism run amok. I would be against defunding the libraries, but also, with gets getting addicted to iphones, ipads and other tablets at increasingly young ages, who knows how much the library is even getting used anymore.

And I agree with you to some extent on that. But the libraries already existed and funds were already gone. It’s not a cost saving measure or a space saving measure (as they still have a teacher in the “media center” - new name for libraries with computers).

Jingoistic Me “If they can get their hands on illegal guns & drugs, they can get their hands on a book if they really wanted one.”.

Realistic Me “They have bigger problems than lack of reading material.”.

Joe Biden “They can be smart too, just like white kids.”.

Take your pick.

If it is a political stunt, as you propose, it wouldn’t surprise me that politicians and government bureaucrats would go about doing even a good thing, like cleaning out inappropriate material from school libraries in the dumbest way possible.

I vividly remember that my elementary school library had a copy of Mein Kampf. I mean, what the fuck is that doing there? Maybe a high schooler would be intelligent enough to read that as source material for a history report. But a ten year old?

edited for a typo

School libraries, librarians and even public libraries are becoming obsolete, surprised they having been lasting this long

they are being eliminated as cost saving measures…don’t agree with it, but it’s reality

never trust anything posted on instragram

We agree here, I think many books are placed in age inappropriate areas. I remember having to read “To kill a mockingbird” in grade school (6th grade). I was very advanced and couldn’t understand that book until I had to reread it in high school.
No middle schooler is going to understand Vonnegut, Orwell, or anything like that.

The Mien Kampf thing came back to me because there was a book on Hermann Goring in one of the boxes in the video, which seems like an odd choice for a school library.

My sons elementary school is only about 5 years old. Its library was built to be, and is used as a technical/learning center with tons of computers and multi-media, steam projects, and yes, books.

For the most part the ship has sailed long ago on libraries being primarily about books.

Most of this romanticism about paperbacks is just another form of manufactured outrage, by and for people who have switched to kindles anyways.

Trying too hard.

I can’t see the video you posted, but does this address it?

I stand corrected as to the nature of the posted video.

My comments on the removals still stand (books are being removed from many classrooms for “vetting” by a biased group of people - so stuff hasn’t been explicitly banned per se) but as you guys suggested this is likely an overblown outrage shitpost for political clout.

I will happily eat crow on this one.

I will never understand why people on social media twist stuff like this especially when trying to prove a point. Fabricating a situation just undermines the argument for one’s side and causes the other to dig their heels in more (everyone seems to do this nowadays - it’s like the fake gym creeper videos)

I apologize for my own bias clouding reason before thoroughly vetting the info.

Because modern left-wing activists are deeply troubled people who can no longer reconcile their political narratives with reality. They aren’t quite ready to abandon those narratives or the notion that they are a force for good in the world somehow, so they justify the fabrication of these hoaxes. They believe that Republicans really are evil book-banners, so what’s the harm in making people thing it is happening here? Or maybe draw a little poop swastika. Or any other of the many hoaxes designed to prop up leftist victimhood narratives.

These are the same group of folks who brought us all sorts of other tall tales, all of which are deliberately deceptive in order to advance their political narratives of oppression, victimhood and portrayal of conservatives as backwards, heartless monsters. It requires lies like this to keep it going, otherwise people might conclude that books like Genderqueer don’t have any place in a public school and that transing the children is harmful.

These are the same breed of activists who call the Parental Rights in Education Bill, which no reasonable adult would object to, “Don’t say gay”.

Just last week we had the racist pregnant healthcare worker hoax, where we were told that this awful pregnant white woman was being racist towards the nice young black men. She got put on leave from her job and hired a lawyer to defend her name, all over a lie.

Gender pay gap myth.

Jussie Smollett at least gave Dave Chappelle some really fantastic joke material.

Hand’s-up, Don’t-Shoot and the destruction of Ferguson, MO.

Voter ID is the same as Jim Crow

Covington Catholic

Kyle Rittenhouse

SUV that killed people.

I could go on and on. When you peel back the euphemisms and start asking questions that begin with a “W”, all of these left wing narratives just crumble.

This one is no different, but you know what they say. A lie will make it around the world before the truth gets out the front door. That’s why political operatives, especially left-wing political operatives, will lie with reckless abandon at every opportunity like this.

It works.

Yeah, i can’t believe the bubble hasn’t popped on this with Sweden coming out and essentially prohibiting crazily harmful hormones/puberty blockers/surgeries for kids. Those drugs are literally inhibiting brain development

My work was less than 4 miles from this location when all of this went down. It was a farce from the get go. Yeah there are bad cops out there - but that one was not (as confirmed by a grand jury and three independent autopsies).

If your referring to the incident in Waukesha, WI, that is in fact my home town and thankfully the jury there was buying none of that BS.

I don’t think this is party exclusive - they are just better at using media that tends to go viral.

How many riots have Republican lies produced that you can recall?

Leftists aren’t the only political operatives who lie, they’re just the ones who are almost always lying about almost everything. The best they can do nowadays is use slippery language and lots of euphemisms that can have broad interpretations. They run from clarity like cockroaches, then accuse the clear person of being some kind of “ist” or phobia. Racist, classist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist, you-name-it.

This makes a lot more sense once you understand that people really do believe the premises from which leftist policy flows. If you actually believe that Republicans are functionally Nazi’s, it makes sense to fight them however you can. If you actually believe that Republicans are banning books and not just smut, well, why not bend reality to try to advance that narrative? It’s the same reasons euphemistic language is used instead of clear language, to bend reality.

It’s why we’re now told that men can become pregnant and that mutilating children through hormones and surgery is “gender affirming care”.

“In the end, the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it.”

Kind of like how right-wingers call everything woke or critical race theory. The LGBTQ community makes them cower with fear.

Some right-wingers be like “Muh kids, protect muh kids, waaaah waaaah cry I don’t know how to parent, so I must ironically become a control freak out of fear ”

I’m sure they’ll be fine as long as the parents aren’t spineless/fearful. They should gently lead their children to healthy living principles.

You just proved my point @tlgains.

Did you notice how your post lacked any sort of clear examples? It is just broad language to advance the left-wing narratives you’re convinced are true.

Our posts are similar. Mine is just more lazy.
