The Staying Lean Factor

I’ll throw my .02 in. I agree that working out doesn’t have much to do with pulling women. I was a skinny mofo in my teens and always did well with women, dating the homecoming and prom queens, etc. I attribute this entirely to being decent looking and a smooth talker, moreso the smooth talking and confidence. When I started working out at 18, I went from my lifelong highest weight of 148 up to 160, at maybe 10 percent BF. I was not big by any means, but I def had abs. I went on Spring Break and got in a fight that resulted in a broken nose and two black eyes. My buddy was fucking with some girl in our hotel that was a floor below us and she told me that her friend really wanted me to come fuck her. I was like haha thats real funny, assuming she was playing a joke on me bc my face was mangled. She said, “She doesn’t care, she thinks your body is amazing!” And I did go and seal the deal, with no smooth talking involved. Being lean and muscular will help you get a girl’s attention in a place where you can’t really run game, like a loud club or a crowded spring break strip, it will give you that initial edge, but 9 times out of 10 it’s still going to be the confident, smooth talking player that gets the girl, and he prob doesn’t work out. Now I weigh about 230 in the winter at around 16 percent BF, and I can tell you, the only people who ever comment on my size and muscles and shit are other dudes. Girls couldn’t give a shit less, if anything I pull a girl by using my mouthpiece and she tells me how she normally doesn’t like big muscle guys, but I’m different. I’m cutting now, I’m curious to see how women’s reactions change when I have visible abs again.

TL;DR when you’re big, the only people who really ask you how strong you are or comment on your size are other dudes. When you have abs, even if you weigh 160, you can smell bitches’ panties gettin wet.

Sorry, man. Wrong.

How? I love that…“uh oh, I can’t debate what he wrote so let me claim he isn’t being fair”

I didn’t change anything. I simply gave you reasons why you are wrong.
I have no interest in engaging you in a 30 page “debate”… And yes you are changing the discussion .

I said most/majority of women would prefer a leaner man over a fatter one with all other things being realistic.

You brought up boxers, bouncers, football players and late night ice cream fetishes. lol

I never said anything about huge rippling 6 packs and specifically stated that I was NOT talking about competition leanness.

You will chose to ignore most of this, being up more “outliers” or made up “factors” like ice cream fetishes as if that’s what “MOST” women have, like or want.

Again, agree to disagree.

I’ll also add that I’ve been to PL comps and BB comps as a spectator.

The chicks who are there in the audience dig the ‘fat’ PLers are awesome and a good chunk are hot (and many lift as well).

The chicks out in force at BB comps aren’t chicks. They’re dudes, who come to see the dudes in banana hammocks.

OH YES HE DID!!!

Some like guys with muscle and a little more fat. I very rarely see a woman who demands most of the guys she sleeps with be “NEAR CONTEST SHAPE” since most don’t even know what that is.

The average woman would HATE the amount of time someone like that would have to spend in the gym more than anything.

Show me a woman who prefers a man with a “pot belly” over the same exact man without one and I will show you a liar.
raises hand
So you would prefer your man to look like one of the guys on the top row vs one of the physiques in the bottom row ?

Day 29 looks splendid actually.

I dunno… I like dudes who have fat over their muscles. Who knows why.

different people like different things, it’s cool.

although I’m sad that I’m too lean for you to ever fancy me :frowning:

EDIT: I also think it’s funny whenever anyone claims to know what women want, as if they all want the same thing…

I like to stay lean, and being able to see my progress clearly is a BIG part of that.

I think the biggest reason though is I lift to impress myself, not others. Maybe other people might find me more impressive with a bit more bodyweight, filling out a larger size of clothes, but I don’t care. I personally find leaner physiques more impressive so I stay lean to find MYSELF more impressive.

I couldn’t care less what other people think looks better, I’m not trying to impress them.
Smashingweights wrote:

And my statement to you is how fat they are would also be based on what that woman wants.

If two guys are damn close in body fat percentages, they won’t care.

Which was only to show you that women don’t fuck you based on abs. They have a whole mental aspect you are missing.

I have friends right now who can pull a girl from almost any circumstance. One, while he isn’t small since he used to play ball, hates lifting and never does unless I pursuade him to. He has NO abs showing but isn’t fat and is always fucking. He isn’t even that “handsome” but he knows how to talk to them.

THAT is the point. You misunderstand women if you think ABS are what will change the hands of pussy fate in your favor.

That’s just my personal experience. Yours may differ. And I agree, it’s not a universal rule. I personally know girls who are all about muscles and meatheads, and people have wildly different tastes, some chicks get off on hooking up with guys dressed like furries. But, if you look at the guys on the covers of women’s magazines, and the pictures of movie stars that women upload to FB and fawn over, for every chick that is in love with the Rock, there are twenty swooning over Ryan Gosling. They’ve even done studies with large sample groups of women, showing them pictures of the same model digitally altered so that in one extreme picture at the end he is a complete ecto, with several pics in the middle, all the way to the opposite end of the scale where he is a complete meso, and the overwhelming majority of women choose somewhere in the middle.

But, like I said, it’s all subjective. Women find men attractive on a much more subjective level than men find women attractive. Think about the hot coeds who swoon over some sixty year old flabby professor bc they “love his mind”. Or fall for ugly rich dudes. I’ve seen girls make fun of guys when they first hit on him, calling him a total joke behind his back and stuff, and through the guy’s persistence he actually won that girl over and two years later, when he dumped her, she was devastated for months. They are much more likely to change what they perceive as attractive in someone based on prestige, personality, etc. Hell, look at how they evaluate other women. Have you ever had girl friend that talks about how pretty some girl is and you’re like, uh, she’s completely average? It’s bc they are attracted to her personality, which makes her that much more appealing to them.

Look, the thing is, if you need to get lean or even lift weights to get girls, there is something lacking in other, much MORE IMPORTANT qualities.

If so, time should be spent working on them instead of in the gym. Or better still, pick up the guitar.

No one ever said what all women want. We have been and are currently talking about the majority.

I may have gone a bit over the top, for effect, with the “and ill show you a liar” comment.

Like many have said, different people like different things… But I still believe that the majority of women(not all) would prefer a leaner version of their man vs a chubbier one.

No one has been talking about two guys who “are damn close in body fat percentages.”

I never said women sleep with you based on abs.

This literally has nothing to do with the conversation at hand.

Again, I never said this. I actually have stated the exact opposite.

Basically this. Pulling ass is a skill that is learned. It has SHIT to do with abs or biceps. I get stared at all of the timer by women but have often been told I intimidate them. That is why I (yes me) try to smile more now. It worked.

Yes, women may like abs, but the truth is, anyone who thinks they have women figured out that simply…doesn’t know jack shit about women.

Haven’t you leaned up a bit somewhat recently? IIRC you posted some pictures with a former pro where you had leaned up and looked pretty huge?
I had to go look that thread up:

http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding/met_a_former_mr_universeamerica?id=5193439&pageNo=0

I am about the the same weight within 10 lbs on any given day, but I am definitely leaner or at least a little more defined and vascular in arms/shoulders/chest and face is a little leaner. I know I’ve gotten tighter on my PL belt by one notch and working on another one, one year later.

That is great Steely. Has your bench gone up as well? Do you have any new progress photos?

Keep up the good work big man.

I am taking my weight every morning and finding a weekly average as suggested. My macros will be the same every day except for a higher carb day on Friday. After this week I’ll have a better gauge on my maintenance macros. How many calories above your maintenance levels do you guys go to gain? or is it kind just a bump up the carbs until the cost:benefit is off?

this is the scale that’s coming in on Monday. I hope it works well

I would suggest 300-500 calories above maintenance or a 10-15% bump in calories and then asses and adjust from there.

The source of those extra calories would depend on what your macronutrients breakdown is right now? Carbs would more than likely be the cheapest way to bump up calories.

This aint really an answer to your question but I like what Romaniello once suggested (least I think it was him).

You get your maintenance macros from your meals and the surplus from your workout protocol, makes it pretty easy to keep track of how many calories you are consuming.
