The Saga of The Charming Albino

I put 4 plates on last night for the squat, got scared looking at them and took 1 of them off each side, replacing them with 35’s and a 5. Is that ridiculous or what? I need more mental rehearsal so I quit getting freaked out. Happened on the MP’s too. Totally bugged out on a weight just 5 lbs heavier than what I’d just doubled.

Frickin’ head case, I am.
First time I squatted 4 plates I had a 300+ pound guy that had traps up to the top of his head telling me I better fucking do it. I think he is willing to travel, perhaps I can send him your way! The most I had squatted prior to the 405 was 375 for the record. In the words of Ronnie Coleman, “Ain’t nothing to it but to do it.” Remind me of that when I test my bench max in a week!

Now I can’t even do THAT anymore? I’m running out of hobbies, Nice bar bend also BTW
It’s a free country. I might not show up at the parties you do, though ;).

Another way to do zercher’s

“Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional illogical liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous liberal press which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Supreme Court just got a new dim bulb in the empty socket. Hide yer guns.

Feel pretty used up today. Glad it’s the weekend.

Jesus, dude-- you are kicking some SERIOUS ass over here! I am wholly impressed, especially those Z-squats. They are quite fun (and addictive), aren’t they?

k. Pushing too hard, doing doubles and limit singles on stuff when I need to be doing singles @ 90%, 5’s @ 80% and taking my little 2.5 and 5 lb increases, building up a record of SUCCESS WITHOUT INJURY or chronic uncomfortablness.

Sleep has been disturbed the last 4 nights. Ordinarily when I sleep, someone would have to drag me out of the house in the event of fire cuz I’m sawing one big ole log. Been waking up for no reason, not sleeping deeply.

Time to take my own advice and back off for real. Next week is 1 single and 1 5 per movement and get out.

Except for deadlift. I want to test conventional deadlift on monday and see where it’s at. I think I’m over 500 again.

Huge zerchers-

nice work- I have a fear of big plates too-

silly but its seeing the big plates seems to scare off the lift-
adding tens or what have you seems to work.
sad but true.

They are now a permanent part of my program. I can’t find another lift that does so much at once, unless it’s the clean + front squat + press - and you can’t load that up like a zercher.

It was totally mental. But hitting 395 was a big confidence builder. Next time I test, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna nail it.

Looking strong Skid. Maybe a little melatonin would help you sleep.

I slept okay last night, but I backed off after bench - didn’t max out on zerchers - and cable rowed instead of free weights. I think that gave my system a chance to motor down a bit since the weight was controlled in 2 planes of motion for me.

If I quit testing maxes each session, stick to the plan, I’ll probably sleep better and make more progress overall without feeling like I’m working too hard. That’s the way it was working before this last week and a half when I started pushing faster.

A little rest goes a long way. Nice training.

Thanks Jimmy. Feel like I’m making some headway.

I get so flippin’ jacked when my forum buddies get stronger. I love this stuff!

here’s a little trick that i used to use on things like squats when the weight freaked me out a bit- right before a big squat attempt i would load the bar up with an extra 90 to 180lbs. then i would unrack it and walk it out. i would then stand there for a moment to really feel the weight. then i would walk it back to the hooks. i would rest just enough to get the weight back to my full ROM attempt. it ALWAYS felt much lighter and my confidence was high.

just give it a try…

Excellent suggestion.

Those are some big Z Squats, DCA. I can’t even imagine trying to do that.

So with also the Zercher love goin’ on here I figured I would try them.
Much respect Mr. Albino…I worked up to 295 x 2 from pins, thighs parallel and thought I was going to blow a vessel. I like 'em.
