Good Mornings (slow eccentric to parallel, fast-ish concentric)
235 10x3 sets (PR +2 reps)
Supine ab iso-holds
1x1min
1x30sec
Looks like I shot my wad on squats four days ago. 5 sets was too much work too fast and it cost me reps today. The DL’s felt hard - hams still tired and I couldn’t get fired up. Got as many reps as I was supposed to but it’s a little disappointing. It’s okay, I’ll be repping 450 in two months in any case.
I think I’m going to have to pick and choose when to go for broke, however. I can’t keep doing it on each main movement every time. Or I can only do it in wave 1 and wave 3.

I also have to figure out when and how to do heavy sets on both squats and deads. Might have to take an extra day or two in between
Normal 5/3/1 has you doing lift/off/lift/off/lift/off/off, so it’ll be rare that they’d even occur in the same week. Additionally an upper body session is always sandwiched between squats and deads, so there should be plenty of recovery time if you don’t go rep-out crazy like me and be reasonable with the assistance lifts volume.
In fact, I just saw confirmation of doing max reps in waves 1 and 3 on the EliteFTS Q&A, leaving wave 2 for concentrating on perfect lift execution. I think I’ll be doing that, myself.

Thanks sweetie!
Did I forget to mention that I quail in the presence of your deadlifting manliness?
Damn - I can feel new back hair growing from all the testosterone…

If back hair is indicative of testosterone level, that must not be water coming out of my pores.
All this time they have been looking for a fossil as the missing link, when I’ve been right here in OK.

Well - I started out trying to do 4 sessions in a week with deads on Tuesdays and Squats on Saturdays. Think I found out that won’t work for me long term. I also like the adaptation you bring up.

That will come in handy for the hair transplant necessitated by the t-induced male pattern baldness.
Actually, men in my family suffer from advancing hairlines. My grandfather couldn’t see to drive, and not because his eyes were bad…
Ah, the dreaded preceding hairline. I’ve seen that before.
I need to get another set of 45’s that aren’t angled. The Iron Grip plates are sturdy, but they’re a bitch to deadlift for reps with. A set of bumpers would be perfect, but don’t fit in the budget right now. I’m going to have to jerry-rig something with cinderblocks and platforms so I can have the bar sit still when I set it down and still have it at the right height…

I’ve been thinking of buying some bumpers. I searched around on the 'net, and found some fairly inexpensive bumper plates. Are they all a standard diameter? I think I read somewhere that one of the brands were all slightly larger than a standard iron 45# plate.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s the case. I hope I’m wrong. I know that 45lb Olympic plates come in many sizes as I have some different brands myself. It may be that bumpers conform to some international standard, though.

How’s that for a definite maybe?
the bumper plates that i have are probably a 1/4 of an inch bigger than regular 45’s. if you are in the market for a couple, i think i could swing you a pretty good deal. i have connections:)
