The Saga of The Charming Albino

That is interesting. I am fascinated by other folk’s work…assuming that it is relatively technical or just really out there.
Some of the stuff I do can be interesting. Once you do it a hundred times, though, the fun factor starts to decline.

I thought I had read in one of your posts that your were at the DNC last year. Was that for work?

5-6-2009

weight: 182 (bar nekkid)

Squat Day
285x3
300x3
320x6 (Rep PR +1)

High Box Squat (18" box)
335 5x3 sets

Ab Wheel
15x2 sets

Hanging leg raises
8x3 sets

Made sure to touch elbows to thighs on every rep. Still chicken-winging a little, but overall much better. If you turn the sound up a little you can tell I’m straining a bit…

Practiced forcing the knees out on the box squats. Made a big difference in how well I got off the box. the first set, which I videoed, was the worst set.

Awesome vid, Skid. I’m no great judge, but your form on the 320x6 looks great to me. Great sound effects, too.

Skid those looked good!!!

if that was your worst set, they aren’t bad
getting off the box looked good- good posture too.

nice work way to blast the abs too.

x2!

gee, skid, youll do anything to show of your awesome free squatrack.

I don’t know if you showed the vid to meat or not, but I thought your form on the free squats was great. they only possible thing I caught on the box was that maybe you can sit back just a little farther? Try to imagine the front of your shin perfectly perpendicular to the ground. That will hammer the hammz n cheez

Killer effort on the rep max. shows me that I’m still not “putting out” enough. I usually stop early instead of taking several breaths and resetting. Except for my last squat workout, which left me feeling more like a man.

great work.

I was done at three reps, really. I hate squats. They always hurt. But I was damned if I was gonna have an estimated max lower than on 5’s day - plus I’m tired of pussing out. It’s a downward spiral. I puss out, then I believe I’m weak so I puss out some more ad frickin’ nauseum. Reps 4-6 I was in my head working myself up to get another rep.

First set of boxys was my worst. Shaped it up a lot better on sets two and three. Elbows down, head up, sat back and forced the knees out. That box height is right at my failure point. It’s a close call on each rep whether I’m going to get off that box or not.

Right on. One of the things I like about this program is the constant striving to improve the number of reps, which in turn keeps me from being more of a pansy. I’ve never worked so hard.

If I can eat up through the rest of this cycle, I’m hoping to get 335x5 next squat day. That’ll be a real PR and moving into pre-program-change maxes.

I can feel the difference cleaning up my squat form makes. My low back hurts not at all, unlike previous squatting. IT feels worked, but none of those sharp “you hurt your back again” pains.

I’m gettin’ excited about deads now.

skid, you are doing a good job at getting the elbows down on the way down, but when you really need them (on the way up) you let them drift back. it’s obvious that you have the flexibility to get them down. pretend that someone is pulling those elbows forward. those little sticking points will definitely disappear when you do that. also, turn your box (cinder blocks) so that a corner is between your legs. it wil give you more surface area to sit on and puts them out of the way of your legs.

i would also suggest rigging something up so that you are a bit lower as well.

overall… looking good.

Maybe I’m sensitive, but I’ll stick to posting with the grown-ups.

Well I didn’t disagree with what they said, just how they said it. They were right and I was wrong-o, but I’m not sure going on the attack right off the bat is strictly necessary in response to a brain-fart.

I’ll quit whining now.

Wow. That’s a bigger confession than you’ll ever see in most online forums.

I venture outside of the 35+ every now and again, just to see what the youngsters (that feels so odd to say) are saying. I never get very far. Too much ego, cocksuredness, rudeness and posturing…

I didn’t see the post, but normally SS is one of the better (read: non-trollish) forums. They all have their moments though no doubt.

We’re all equally crotchety here in the old folks home.

That’s too bad for Steely. But isn’t this like 15 minutes of sun a week?

I remember Poliquin or someone saying a while back on T-Nation that Vitamin D is the next wonder drug.
