The Rocket and McCready

Will you guys tell me this:

Who the hell is advising Roger Clemens; or is he just ignoring his councils advice?

Two BAD moves:

  1. Going public in front of Congress to “defend” his reputation against steroid use.

Every lawyer that I talked to has said that was a BAD move, mainly because past steroid use won’t get him in jail…perjury will.

  1. Roger; if you open a defamation suite, you open your WHOLE LIFE UP TO THE DEFENSE!!!

Looks like “The Rocket” was throwing sliders to Country Star Mindy McCready since the time she was 15.

He says (in very “Clinton-esque” words), that “Yea…I knew her…but we didn’t have sex”.

Roger, Roger, ROGER!

Get a GRIP, Playa’!

Him and Barry Bonds ought to start their OWN Hall of Fame; that’s the only one the two will end up in.

The floor is now open to “The Nation”!

Mufasa

He is a complete idiot. Forget the Hall of Fame. He is going to have a shitty legacy now. I already forgot about the Cy youngs and the 20 strikeout game. Also, if you are going to lie to your wife, the person you made your vowels to, how in the world is anybody going to believe you about your steroid use. Its kind of a little insulting that he thinks we are all that stupid and believe his dumbass.

Man, she has really gone downhill.

yea I have totally lost respect for Clemens. He disrespects his fans by making up shit and believing that we are all dumb enough to believe his fake ass

No one can prove he took anything. You have the word of a fucking dealer who testified only under threat of federal prosecution.

If you know anything about steroids, or HGH at all, you’d know that the shit his trainer has been spewing is a pile of crap.

This is still the USA, folks. Innocent until proven guilty - with the emphasis on proof. Last I checked, hear say is not proof, regardless what CNN says.

I think him coming out and ramming this shit back down baseball’s throat is the best move he could have made. If I’m innocent, I’m raising 9 kinds of hell.

People want him to be guilty - and that’s just pathetic.

Mindy McReady? She hasn’t been 15 for 20-25 years - and that hardly means he took HGH.

You guys need to find something else to pass the time with.

I don’t even care if or what Clemens took, but damn, McCready? Compared to Britney, she’s twice the crazy with half the famous.

word

rj:

Nope…his WIFE took HGH…in their bedroom…and the ROCKET admitted that.

The point I was trying to make is that these have all been both terrible LEGAL moves AND PR moves.

Great…sticking it to baseball and raising Holla’ Hell is great; but if the point was to improve his IMAGE, these latest moves didn’t do it.

And on top of it all, Clemens has most likely gotten himself into a legal mess.

It’s the bottom of the 8th…

Mufasa

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

I don’t see the mess. And so what if his wife took it? What does that have to do with Clemens?

There’s a lot worse crap going on in sports than wondering who Clemens is fucking and what his wife is shooting.

You are falling prey to the media frenzy. There is no legal “mess”. he prosecution is going to have to do a shit ton better for proof than saying he was at Canseco’s party, and a mysteriously appearing beer can full of needles.

Speaking of shooting - JJones deserves a bullet for bringing Pacman to the Cowboys. That kid should be kicked out of the league permanently.

Agree, rj!

Someone on ESPN commented that Jones appears to be wanting to make the Cowboys the “New Raiders”, by bringing in misfits and mal-contents.

And talk about putting a kid in a candy store!

My understanding is that the Greater Dallas Area has some of greatest concentrations of “Gentleman’s Clubs” and Strip Joints around.

Let’s see how the PacMan resist!

(Note: I think that Goodell still has to make a decision on PacMan’s reinstatement)

I wish the fans had the right to lobby Goodell.

And why is Pacman’s head so damn big? He looks like a PEZ dispenser

I agree with you about not trusting McNamee, he is a shady character. But what about Andy Pettitte? They were friends for a long time and I see no reason for him to lie.

Court of public opinion is what is ruling for the AAS/GH topic, can’t do anything about that. I don’t know of anyone who watched his hearings that didn’t think he came off poorly.
The problem I have with Clemens is the affair. Not only did he cheat on his wife, but he commited statutory rape in the process…The sports radio network in Denver reported yesterday that the affair started when he was 28 and she was 15 (I haven’t verified the age difference, I believe the report until proven incorrect).
I understand the defense of the possible “railroading” on the GH issue, the affair is indefensible.
This point of view is from someone who WAS a pretty big Clemens fan since I found out we had the same birthday when I was a kid.

Interesting topic. I feel obligated, however, to clear a few things up. Not to nitpick, but it is “counsel” not “council.” Also, “suit” not “suite.” And finally, “hearsay” not “hear say,” and there are quite a few instances where it can be used as evidence.

Your points are well taken, Mufasa, but they appear to be based on the assumption that Clemens is guilty. Denying steroid use before Congress was an undeniably bad move if you have, in fact, used steroids. Much less so if you are innocent. Not to mention that perjury is incredibly hard to prove.

In general, I believe that Clemens is probably a dick. I don’t know him personally, but that is the impression I get. I don’t necessarily believe that he is guilty of using performance enhancing drugs, though. I wouldn’t be surprised, but McNamee does not strike me as totally credible either.

Bonds, however, so clearly used steroids that it is beyond insane to deny it.

Yup, but there are probably a handful who still do.

As for Clemens, his wife is using HGH and he’s not? Come on. That strains credibility just a bit. Obviously he’s LEGALLY innocent until proven guilty, but use your heads.

My wife used to have a bunch of anavar in her drawer. I have never taken a single milligram. She has a couple of bottles of HOT-ROX Extreme in the kitchen pantry. I have never taken a single caplet. I inject my wife with MelanotanII every night, yet I have never given even a passing thought to injecting the stuff into me.

Yeah, it’s in-fucking-credible for a wife to be doing something that the husband doesn’t do.

I agree with RJ, which–believe me–is quite a shock to both of us. I think it is totally reasonable to believe that a dude might refuse to partake in his wife’s HGH because he knows that using it himself could jeopardize his career. I wouldn’t be shocked if he did, but McNamee’s allegations and the fact that his wife used HGH is not enough to make me believe it. Nor is the fact that he apparently banged a country singer.

I don’t know if it was you or another poster who said it, but this has dick to do with the court of law - this is being tried and sentenced the court of public opinion.

Everyone who has a functional brain stem knows the prosecutors have no winnable case against Clemens.

Public opinion, and a bunch of pissed off baseball writers, will make sure that the greatest pitcher of our generation will never get in the HOF. And that’s probably a worse punishment for Clemens than anything the federal courts could do to him.
