Personally, I thought Thor 2 was good. Middle of the road in the Marvel Universe.
But how’s Natalie look? I’ll give it a go this weekend, it’s only $1 to rent.
I liked them but they weren’t great. Ragnarok is just so much better, and the tone is so much more fun that the first two don’t compare favorably.
Agreed. 3 is much much better for sure.
Lovely as usual.
I’m a tiny bit gay for Channing Tatum but not enough for him to make the list.
I thought the first one was terrible, and the second one was better but still pretty bad.
I watched Pulp Fiction for the 2nd time ever the other day. It’s been years and I always knew that I loved it, just forgot what it was I loved about it. Watched it again and still can’t put my finger on it. Fuckin quality though and I love Quinten Tarintino (sic?) movies so it’s no surprise.
Jeez at this rate you may as well list guys you arnt remotely gay for!
mate, I’ve got enough gayness of my own without you trying to project your own gayness onto me.
Admittedly, I’ve never seen either of the MM films so I can’t promise my list would be unchanged by them.
Girl on the Train - I didn’t like it but not because it was a bad movie. On the contrary, it was very, very good but I found some of the more violent scenes nearly unwatchable.
I can watch bad guys get their brains splattered all day long but violence towards loved ones or children puts me in a dark mood.
So, I give it a 7/10 but I didn’t enjoy it and won’t ever watch it again.
Watched Coco today.
Probably the most aggressively average Pixar film I’ve seen (I haven’t seen the Good Dinosaur cause the very concept sounds boring, nor have I seen any of the Cars films. Given what I’ve heard of the first Cars, I guess this is their second aggressively average film).
The plot itself felt incredibly average, and I want to say that people are giving this high praise more because of the way the Day of the Dead is used, which is sorta cool, to figure into both the plot and guiding theme than any uniqueness or interesting narrative.
The animation is nice… At this point you expect Pixar to have superb animation, so I don’t know if it’s even worth mentioning.
Am I being too hard on Pixar and expecting every one of their film to be like Inside Out now?
Yes.
God damn, I want to see Inside Out for the first time again. And, this time, I want to see it without annoying kids in the theater.
Edit-
I’ve realized that I’ve forgotten that Pixar has made films like The Bugs Life and Brave, both of which would probably get the same criticism I gave this film. The only difference? Neither films got the kind of praise that Coco is getting.
Saw a cure for wellness
Forgot the lead actors name, saw him in that other movie chronicle, and I mostly just watched it because I find him rather handsome.
Could’ve tied stuff together towards the end, and the ending flopped a bit.
That one scene with the iron lung thing, and the feeding tube was rather brutal though.
All in all still watched it for the handsomeness.
Wind River
Native girl gets raped and murdered on a reservation in Wyoming. Jeremy Renner rides snowmobiles and shoots things while delivering the best performance of his career. Elizabeth Olsen spends 100 minutes making me forget about her sisters, doing a solid job playing the fish out of water, in over her head FBI agent sent to investigate the case.
This is a very tense, gritty drama. If you’re familiar with Taylor Sheridan (Sicario and Hell or High Water), then that won’t be a surprise. It’s another very solid effort from him.
8.5/10
Finally saw the Mummy with Tom Cruise. It wasn’t what I expected and thought it was decent. I especially liked the scene that alluded to the old black and white monster movies and the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies
Ladybird. LOVED it. Very funny. Quirky coming of age movie. See it with your wife, GF. Too mature for young teens, IMO.
Edge of tomorrow. Si-fi, earth vs invincible army, dude, bad ass chick, time loop, etc. I liked it, but will readily admit that I have no taste in movies (can count the # I’ve watched on 2 hands)
oh my god how hot is Chris Evans with a beard…
Thanks for posting about this movie. I’m a big fan of Saoirse Ronan.
