The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

I cant do it! Saw the first one in 77 …just cant do it. Everything I hear about it sounds like a train wreck and for good reason. I will be shocked if heads dont roll after this especially at Lucas film.

Eh the theater by me has $7 tickets and they serve alcohol. If it’s bad enough I suppose I can just get hammered!

Let me know what you think of it story wise… as I have gotten older I find that I need more then action and special effect to keep my interest. If the story is shit and full of plot holes i will avoid it myself.

OMG they didn’t just cut the SJW shit. They fucking kowtowed to The Last Jedi haters lolololol. This is why the critics are so pissed off! Omfg this is so fucking hilarious.

Oh, The Rise of Skywalker is pretty bad but lots of shit blew up. I was fine with it.

This is why the trilogy was screwed. You can’t just undo the previous movies. They sucked and didn’t actually provide hooks to solve the problems without straight up retcons, which don’t actually solve it.

(Yes, 7 sucked, too. It was an okay movie to watch, but it didn’t set the story up for success. I said that when it came out and it seems I was very much right. Maybe 8 could have fixed 7, but 7 already sank the OT heroes, dead-ended Rey, threw up a bunch of pointless Chekov’s guns, and straight up failed to really explain how we got from 6 to 7. It would have been hard to fix that and it seems Rian Johnson just didn’t try.)

Man, you don’t know how self-aware this one was when it came to stuff people were unhappy about in the last 2 movies. I was more entertained by this than the actual movie.

I agree.

This latest trilogy set itself up for failure from the get-go.

Should have just had JJ Abrams direct all three films so that it at least has some sense of coherence to it.

Yep… that exactly why some are being harsh on it. JJ Abrams more or less flipped off Rian Johnson. The SJW crowd is pissed because of the change of direction… Unfortunately , the hard core fan base are still pissed off from the last one. I got a feeling this movie will be a disaster at the Box office…

Nope… he wanted to make his own thing.

Is it petty that I really hope so?

I dont believe so…they earned it.

What I did like about this movie was the anime style action scenes like in the last fight scene in The Force Awakens. Then they went full retard at the end. You have to see it to believe it.

What confused me is that Disney didn’t have anyone reading his script and realizing that it is very different from the regular Star Wars, or that Rian Johnson had no apparent interest in further developing the plot points created in TFA.

I actually like what he thought up (the parts related to Rey and the entire mythos; the stuff with Finn/Rose/Poe is straight-up garbage and I seriously believe Rian Johnson did it just to fuck with people).

Did any history ever come up on what happened with production for TLJ?

Well… some feel that Kathleen Kennedy gave Johnson freedom to do what he wanted because he shared the same social politics.

Oh he did… he had a hard on over subverting people expectations.

Truly, this is the most confusing thing. It’s some weird combination of hubris, ignorance, and callous self-righteousness. They didn’t have a story, didn’t understand what made it work, and didn’t care. If Disney doesn’t fire KK, she won’t get the message.

6 Underground: made no sense. Terrible execution of a silly concept. Still, enough explosions and Ryan Reynolds jokes to keep it fun.
4-5/10 for pure entertainment, 1.5/10 as a work of art.

The remake of Death Wish with Bruce Willis. Bruce, you’re not a doctor. Good news; no horrific rape scene like in the originals. I hate rape scenes. Dunno. Just seems like something that’s horrifying enough to hear about in a movie, making a scene about it seems like a cheap way to get an emotional reaction. Still, doesn’t pack much of a punch. Meh. 3/10.

Code 8: Eh. 4/10? Maybe? Sloppy and predictable sci fi story with a couple interesting nuances but mostly just the same “desperate guy does illegal shit for loved one in trouble” as any other movie.

Rambo: Last Blood: Can I just see a good movie? Nobody gives a shit about this. It’s like the least consequential plot line of any of the Rambo’s. The last Rambo was WAY better. Your niece is a fucking dumbass. No high school kid is just driving to the superhood in Mexico for no reason. The whole movie just seemed like, so what? ESPECIALLY when compared to any other Rambo. Shit explodes, people die, but it’s got no teeth. 2/10.

They retconned all these. It’s why the plot of The Rise of Skywalker is so convoluted.

They had to make a continuation of the first movie while trying to fit in parts of The Last Jedi that they couldn’t change into the narrative. Which means they had to reconstruct an entire 2nd movie of the trilogy and fit it into this movie. Imagine The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of The Jedi were cut up and condensed into 2.5 hours. This is what you would get.

Ip Man 4

Ip Man 1 was mildly entertaining, Ip Man 2 was awesome, Ip Man 3 sucked. This one sucked donkey balls. I’m saying this as one of Donnie Yen’s biggest fans since I was a fucking kid. Donnie Yen was the blind guy in Rogue One.

Donnie Yen plays Ip Man, the tiny old guy in those old photos of Bruce Lee learning Wing Chun. Fuck Wing Chun. He goes to the US to try to get his son a place in a school. He meets the top guys in the Chinese martial arts society or something. The head of this society, who’s also the most highly skilled of them all, is a fucking TAI CHI master. You know what Tai chi is? It’s the shit that my 70 year old mother does to stay in shape because yoga was too taxing for her.

These guys are upset because Bruce Lee has been teaching kungfu to the gwailo. Then there’s an evil US army sergeant who hates Chinese martial arts. He’s a fucking karate expert. He sends his guy, also a karate expert, to fuck up an event held by the Chinese kungfu society or something. This guy says something like, “You’re all yellow. That’s why your kungfu sucks.” Where the fuck do the writers think karate came from? Sweden? Then he beats up all the top guys in a fair fight until Donnie Yen steps in and beats him up.

Then the army sergeant gets mad and makes the tai chi master fight him. He wins and people are like, “Wtf? A 100lb taichi master just lost a fight with Scott Adkins? How can this be? Can Bruce Lee still beat up Ali?”.

Since Donnie Yen already beat Tyson in Ip Man 3, he defeats the sergeant easily Then the movie ends.

Fuck this shit. 2/10.

I watched it a couple of days ago. Film’s narrative is garbage but it had lots of pretty stuff happening.

I am seriously disappointed in the last fight scene. Could have been so much more awesome.
