Terminator: Dark Fate
Decent but not brilliant, possibly, I might enjoy it more second time round as I did with genisys & salvation…7/10.

Terminator: Dark Fate
It’s not 100% terrible. Arnold is pretty fucking funny. I legitimately LOLed several times. This is his best performance as the T-800 since T2. He doesn’t feel like he’s trying to do an impression of himself like he did in T3 (can’t speak for Genisys since I refuse to watch that POS). Linda Hamilton is pretty solid. Her character is one of the OG female badasses, back before you needed 30 minutes of “empowering” dialogue to beat you over the head into accepting said female badass, and it’s great to have her back. I would have loved to see it back before she was 70 years old though. IE this movie would have been a lot better 20 years ago, in place of T3.
The blonde girl is sorta believable in her role. And again, there was no “empowerment” bullshit involved with her character. It wasn’t needed. She’s a genetically modified cyborg. That explains her abilities. Cool, no problem. However, her strength is exaggerated to the point of removing all of the dread associated with the antagonist. She barely ever gets her ass kicked, which kinda has to happen for there to be any stakes, right? We need to believe that there’s a strong possibility that the bad guy will win.
The twist, or the “grrrrl power!” part is so unbelievably predictable that I can’t believe they didn’t just spit it out at the very beginning. It barely qualifies as a twist. I don’t know why Hollywood suddenly feels so compelled to do this bullshit, especially now. It’s almost 20-fucking-20, we get that women can have strength and be leaders.
Anyhow, political rants aside, the story for this movie is fucking dumber than Epstein’s official autopsy report. Nothing is going to make sense after T2, so don’t even try to rationalize it. The action scenes look fake as fuck, because they are. They’re still kinda cool though. The new bad guy Terminator is not menacing at all, because you watch blondie fuck him up every time they have an encounter.
This movie is basically a slightly below-average Marvel movie with Arnold and swear words.
6/10; it would be a 4 but Arnold and the T-800 character are entertaining.
You know which part made me lol the loudest? The part near the end where Arnold hands Grace her syringe full of drugs and says, “You forgot this!”. Who wrote this shit lol?
I’ve watched 3 episodes of Watchmen(HBO) and I still have no idea what’s going on. But it’s interesting.
Ditto!
Dr Sleep
Disclaimer: I haven’t read the book. The technical stuff in this movie is pretty accomplished. The last 3rd of the movie simply wastes a lot of what they had set up so well in the first 2 acts, but it’s not a complete let down. Rebecca Ferguson is great as the chick from 4 Non Blondes. And, seriously, stop casting fucking kids in the lead role when they can’t act and expect us to give them a free pass just because they’re kids. This isn’t the 80s. 7/10
I think this is the problem with having terminators that are liquid metal. Since they’re pretty much invincible, short of very specific circumstances, you can do whatever you want just to make neat CGI scenes.
It worked in T2 because it’s new and every time where the T-800 and T-1000 actually fights, the T-800 gets its ass kicked. That’s what you can do when both are unfeeling robots. Can’t do this when this your defender this time is “merely” a cyborg.
This film had too much CGI. I think the film could actually have been good if they cut out 80% of the CGI fight scenes and kept it very tight.
Have you read Watchmen?
Nope. I’ve only watched the movie adaptation.
The movie was so, so, so, so, so bad. There are few accurate ways to describe just how good the book is. I’ve read it at least 4 times and I still pick up on new themes and patterns. You can get it for like 15 bucks, or even less used. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Gemini Man
I watched this because a movie directed by Ang Lee is usually either:
I thought the odds were in favor of it being no. 2. I wasn’t disappointed.
Anyone looking at getting Disney plus?
Disney is the devil.
Well yeah

Pair it with google and the world will implode while we all sing “It’s a Small World”…
No " let it go"
Yup. Kids love it. If you have Verizon it’s might be free to you for the first year.
Watching The Devil Next Door about John Demjanjuk (maybe Ivan the Terrible from Treblinka Death Camp in Poland … don’t know yet) I’m 3 episodes down and I gotta say, it’s absolutely fascinating seeing how the media can lead a narrative and condemn a man before he’s been tried … I don’t know the verdict at this point - I know nothing of this trial and have avoided researching/finding out about it. Fascinating…
Cobra Kai (YouTube Premium) is pretty awesome. Almost done with S1 and it’s so much better than I thought it would be.
