Watching the series on Amazon prime called The Boys . All I have to say is interesting.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I love Tarantino. I love the slow pace, developing characters. DiCaprio is awesome. He has a little stutter/tick in this that he keeps up the whole time. It was cool to see Brad Pitt move away from the hearthrob role and play and older, more worn out character. It was funny and the ending is fantastic.
I’ve really enjoyed The Boys, so far.
For those that don’t know, started off with a guy whose girlfriend gets “run over” by the equivalent of The Flash and turning into a puff of red goop. Said guy semi-involuntarily joins a group a vigilantes who try to take down the “Superheros” — who are really flaming assholes, druggies, and perverts, along with the evil corporation behind them.
Very violent. Very realistic portrayal of what it would be like to have super-humans among us.
I’m excited for this!
I ended up binge watching it all. Learned from it never let a super powered female sit on one’s face.
That was a strangely hot scene/montage.
well… until the end.
Well , then she just reminded me of an ex
Well do tell! Lol
Almost done with The Boys.
Love this. Karl Urban needs more fucking roles. And whomever plays Homelander nails it.
Super entertaining, really funny poke at the current obsession with superheroes and fake corporate political correctness.
everyone should give it a shot
Started watching The Boys last night with the wife. Just finished the 2nd episode and really enjoyed it. Was about to watch the 3rd and realized it was already midnight . LOL. Need our sleep with a 2 year-old…
Hobbs and Shaw
I thought I was watching a HK movie from the pacing, ludicrous action scenes and multi-colored lighting for certain fight sequences all the way down to the type of editing errors(seriously, there’s a hard cut from night to daylight in one sequence).
Lots of shit went “BOOM!”. I liked it. 7/10
Please cast Nicolas Cage in the next movie. This franchise needs Nicolas Cage.
PUT THE BUNNY DOWN!
The Divine Fury (Korea 2019)
Top MMA fighter lost his faith in God when he was a kid. For some reason, he attracts lots of demons who try to possess him while he’s sleeping but his dead father visits him in a dream and he develops stigmata in one hand. Then he meets a old priest during an exorcism and finds out his stigmata allows him to exorcise people just by touching them. Then he teams up with the old priest and starts exorcising people. The priest does the “The power of God compels you!” stuff. MMA guy does the John Wick stuff, using his hand with stigmata to deal the finishing blow.
Lol.
Then they find out there’s some powerful dude known as a Dark Priest or something who’s causing all these people to get possessed so he can offer their souls to Tom Ellis. This dude is young, hot and owns an upscale nightclub. Of course he does. Then the usual shit in the second act happens to give the MMA guy a reason to literally go John Wick on everyone.
Lmao.
Good:
There’s a really hot nun.
Bad:
Too long. Too draggy. Could have edited out 30mins of it’s 2hr running time.
Crap:
This looks like it’s supposed to be a set up for an “Exorcist Universe”. Not joking.
5.5/10
Chiming in for The Boys as well. Exceeded all expectations. Delightfully cynical and great character development. Binged the whole series.
By far my favorite super hero “universe”.
While I’m here I’ll review the series I haven’t finished because The Boys was so good.
Another Life on Netflix. It has the makings of a good sci fi story, but I have a hard time understanding why the ship to save humanity was crewed by a group that would have been right at home on The Jersey Shore.
Suspension of disbelief is important to enjoy any sci fi, but it seems like such an implausible scenario that it ruined many of the good parts for me.
The Boys pulls this off much better. Once you accept that you’re in a world with superheroes, everything else is perfectly plausible.
The sci-fi aspect did not really require suspended belief it was the fact the the General was a woman, the bad ass/leader a woman, psych doctor transexual, 2-3 bi-sexuals all in one crew…come on.
The more I look at the world I now realise that “Idiocracy” was not a ScFi movie but in reality a documentary! Same with “They live,”
By chance you have any bubble gum?
No but I brought my sunglasses!
