The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

I really enjoyed the Good Omens adaptation, and I was a fan of the book. I was impressed that they nailed most of the comedic tone in the show since a ton of Pratchett and Gaiman’s jokes are pretty subtle in the text.

Sadako 2019 (Japan)

Another sequel to The Ring(Sadako is the name of the chick that crawled out of the TV, later renamed “Samara” in the Hollywood remake) after that awful, but entertaining in a “so bad it’s good kind of way”, Sadako vs Kayako(Kayako was the chick that crawled down the stairs in The Grudge. Yes, it made no fucking sense.). A little worse than Captain Marvel. Just a little. But I’m just going to talk about the positives since thinking about how bad this piece of shit was is just going to piss me off.

There were moving images.

The images were in focus.

No boom mikes were visible.

Characters spoke words.

Brie Larson was not in it.

The end credits rolled at a consistent pace.

0.5/10.

I’m just gonna leave this here:

I thought they scrapped this when the ‘main lesbo’ said she refused to be in a DC series unless the character was rug-munchin.

Looks like they caved. Don’t know why, her best role was when she never spoke a word in John Wick 2…

I predict 1/2 to 1 season before it’s cancelled.

From the Wiki entry for Ruby Rose:

“The casting received criticism from those who felt that the character should be portrayed by someone of Jewish descent or otherwise questioned if Rose was the right actress for the part. Due to the casting backlash on Twitter, Rose abandoned her Twitter account, stating, in part, that she would continue focusing on her upcoming roles”

Can someone smarter than me please make sense of any of that?

She’s not intersectional enough?

In other news:

I’m skeptical AF.

I dunno about the Jewish part, but the main backlash is because of the fact that she’s gender fluid.

This could potentially end up in one of the greatest plot twists of all time.

Lol, Jesus Christ. Speaking of, I re-watched Captain Marvel last night and enjoyed it. I think they’ve made her stupid overpowered, but I didn’t think the girl-power stuff was that bad. Certainly not as bad as the whole fight scene in Endgame.

Then you’ll love Birdemic.

I didn’t care about the girl-power fight in Endgame because it was brief, didn’t really affect the flow of the movie and it’s nothing new. Lots of characters in major movies have one or a couple of their characters looking cool in a brief, overtly fan pleasing scene. Like that scene with Legolas jumping on that big elephant or something in the 3rd LOTR movie.

Captain Marvel was an SJW checklist written into a script. The movie as a whole didn’t work because of this despite the fact that the directors have proven in the past that they can actually make good movies. I’ll bet you a lot of money that a less accomplished director would have made it worse than the Batwoman trailer.

He probably likes the newest Ghostbusters too.

I guess, I didn’t notice. I just like to watch shit blow up.

*The only time I really rolled my eyes was when the black lady was giving her little talk about how strong Carol is or whatever.

And, lets be honest, I’ve watched the Dragonball movie twice. I’m not exactly Ebert here.

So you’re for the rebooting of the 2016 Ghostbusters into another male dominated movie?

Look what you’re doing to women! Shame on you!

“Bernie and a new Ghostbusters movie are two things I should be all about but their fans keep telling me I’m worthless so I’m gonna spend my money somewhere else…” wrote [Jess McIntosh]

I’m not a fan of rebooting every franchise tbh. Let Slimer be, man.

See, I’m the opposite, I look forward to remakes, not sure why, I really enjoy originals, and they’ll always be there if the reboot is awful. I enjoyed Total Recall and it’s reboot about equally, for example.

Some reboots are fine it just seems like they do it too often.

what reboots are fine?

For the rest of you sci-fi junkies, saw I am Mother on netflix. Definitely a Moon vibe to it. Solid movie, nothing ground breaking or mind breaking(Ex-Machina) but a good watch if you like the genre.

What I really liked about the movie, is the current state of streaming movies. In today’s environment, this movie doesn’t make a profit at the theaters, but it’s a good movie that deserves a medium to watch it. Sad to think that the new Blade Runner was a commercial flop but brilliant movie and most of my friends have never heard of Upgrade let alone seen it.
