The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil (Korea)
A gangster boss teams up with a cop to catch a serial killer. It was pretty good until they completely fucked up the ending. It’s very similar to one of those 80s buddy cop action flicks, just a lot more violent.
I mean, seriously, watching people get punched in the face by this guy was entertaining enough to justify the ticket price.
The Outlaws (Korea 2018)
3 gang members fresh out of China take on multiple gangs in some part of South Korea and attempt to take over their territories while a cop played by Ma Dong Seok, aka Don Lee(the guy on the left in the poster), punches a lot of people in the face.
This supposedly really happened in the 2000s. As someone who grew up in a similar sort of environment, I can buy it. Even Chinese gang members in countries in Asia outside of China knew that you don’t fuck with gang members FROM China (and Vietnam). That’s because they didn’t play by the rules, were’t afraid of ANYTHING and were willing to commit the kind of brutal and depraved acts that even hardcore gang members weren’t willing to do. This is why socialism sucks, kids. Please don’t become socialists.
Anyway, this gets an 8/10 from me because of the number of people Ma Dong Seok punches in the face.

Kids will like it. Adults who grew up with the cartoon will be underwhelmed. It’s not completely awful, but it’s not good either. The “Speechless” song got on my fucking nerves though. Every fucking movie needs a SJW moment now, and that song is this movie’s. The worst part? They play it TWICE.

Yeah my oldest wanted us to go as a family…Did Jasmine have the Infinity Gauntlet? Looked like she was dusting guys during the song.
I thought it was ok for what it is. I can’t imagine many of these live action movies even having a shot to equal or best the originals. Hell Aladdin and Lion King are two of the best animated movies of all time imo.
It’s sorta a lose lose in the sense that as adults who have already seen these movies the live action ones really can’t offer much in the way of surprises. If they detract much from the spirit of the original everyone will throw a fit.
Of course it’s a huge win for Disney because they are going to make a shit ton and now kids want to see the originals as well. Can’t blame them for going down this road in the least bit but as adults who have seen the original I can’t help but think we are bound to be disappointed by all of these.
My daughter and nieces thought it was the best thing ever. I also feel a bit bad for Will Smith in the sense that he had to follow up maybe the best single cartoon acting experience ever.

The Beauty and the Beast live action movie was pretty good. They got the casting right and chose the guy that did the movie version of Chicago to helm it. Hermione was literally born to play that role.
I wanted to watch Aladdin at first. Then I saw it was directed by Guy Ritchie and skipped it lol. He’s not fit for this kind of material. Why did anyone think it was a good idea to cast Will Smith as the fucking genie?
And why aren’t they remaking Aristocats? That’s my favorite Disney cartoon. I fucking dare them to keep the Oriental cat in the movie. I’ll watch it twice in the theater if they have the balls to do that!
