Everybody’s different, and when various supplements are discussed there are a lot of opposing views. What legal supplements (non-food) do you KNOW worked for you. Not “I think maybe it was the…” but regardless of your diet or latest workout, you are convinced made a difference? In my case,I would have to say ECA, Creatine, 19-nor(well, it works for girls)and T2. I’m looking foward to your responses! Thanks!
Norephedrine/caffeine fat loss products, ephedra/caffeine weight loss products, androsol, nandrosol, and…ta daa…Thermolife’s Ecdysten product (yeah, I’m aware of the on-going debate elsewhere on this forum, but I’m a believer 'cuz of what it has done for me - faster recovery time, increased endurance, and totally alleviates my post-stimulant crash!).
the ONLY (and i do mean ONLY) supplement that has ever produced noticeable gains is Ribose-C. i am a non-responder to regular creatine, but with ribose-C my muscles were fuller. thats all i got from it though. and thats all i ever got from supplements (aside from protein/mrps). i am pretty pissed that i am generally a non-responder to all supplements
but i guess that means that i have to rely more on food and training ![]()
peace
I’m not sure whether you’ll deem it as a food source (which it is) or as a supplement (which it is), but the most dramatic response I’ve ever had, recovery wise, was from Surge! Keep in mind that I’ve tried everything popular with the acception of prohormones (yet) and “bug gear” (I’m waiting until I hatch from my cacoon for those). The next in line would have to be HMB - it just feels like deca!
NOTHING has ever worked for me unless I was going hypercaloric. In my experience I will not put on muscle mass by eating maintainence calories and taking any supplement, period. You have to overfeed to gain. There in lies the conundrum, though, in that I have gained in size while using supplements AND overfeeding. However, the gains have not been any more than overfeeding on its own. So my conclusion (for me, anyhow) is that supplements don’t work. FOOD is the only supplement you need.
the only thing Dozer uses year round aside from MRP’s is BCAA’s 3 before I workout and 3 before cardio and EPH/DHA fish oil. I use stimulants the day after a bad cheat day thats about it. I also use creatine when dieting.
I use Surge when I have the money for it or after very heavy days…and the Big D loves his heavy compound movments.
I get such a laugh sometimes- I’ll be deadlifting tuesdays and fridays and at least 4 people will come up to me and go “Dam those look hard…what are they??”
Dozer, that busts me up about the DLs, my man! I may be an SB and all, but I tell ya, I love my DLs and outta all trainees and big guns that train at the same gym, I think I’ve seen maybe one or two do heavy bent-knee DLs…it’s a joke. And squats…hell…they’re either about 1/4s or none at all.
Sorry for getting off the topic there, A Girl. Personally, I don't think there's any substitute for proper nutrition and rest, but we all pretty much know that. I haven't tried too many different supps, but have never responded well to creatine. I did see/feel a difference with Ribose and definitely Glutamine aids with recovery. As for a nice kick in the pants before a workout, Dymetadrine Xtreme has helped me out with some of my best workouts--never really used EC stacks for fat loss though.
Keep it simple. Creatine, BCAA’s, fish oil, flax seed oil, multivitamin.
ECA stacks work wonders for me. I put on fat very easily and any norephedrine/caffeine combo works. On a side note, is there ANYONE here who has ever gotten positive results from L-Carnitine??? Some new guy was working at the place where I buy my supps the other day and he tried to sell me that crap. I can’t believe the junk that these places will try to push on innocent T-Men wannabes. I laughed all the way home!
Good topic A Girl. You made me think back at all the supplements that I’ve taken over the last two decades (too many to mention) and the only one that I can honestly say made an immediate and noticeable difference was Androsol. My first time using it, I packed on 9 lbs in just 2 weeks. I can’t say anything about the efficacy of fat burning sups, since I’ve always had relatively low bodyfat and haven’t had a need to use any of them (yet).
I always thought i was very in-tune with my body and would notice anything different but after using ALOT of supps and not noticing any great change–maybe i’m not. However i used MD6
(6 caps per day) with methoxy-7(4 tbls per day)
and without any cardio I “leaned up” considerably…I’d be doing that again but the price of methoxy was killin’ me(can’t wait for the “new improved” version)
there’s really only one thing that’s made a difference for me. the ECA stack. all other gains i’ve made while using supplements were while i was overfeeding. if i don’t jack up the calories, i don’t see any significant gains. that said, i gained 11 pounds in 3 weeks from Nandrosol & eating like a horse.
Androsol is the only supplement that has made a measurable difference in my physique and lifts. I believe Androsol is an outstanding adjunct to any diet, be it hyper- or hypocaloric. (I’ve never tried Nandrosol, so I can’t comment on its efficacy.)
Hydroxycut, most proteins (especially Pro Blend 55, Optimum Nutrition products, and SportPharma products), Weider gainer, 5-HTP, Trans-Neuro, glutamine peptide, glycerol (it was the most powerful supplement I’ve ever taken, I took it to keep enough water in me during workouts, and it’s great if you want to add water weight), Metmucil (ODing really sucks), Nature’s Secret multis, ZMA (powerful)
Whey protein isolate, Ribose, creatine, md6, glutamine, and flax seed oil, and simple carbs with whey protein isolate post workout.
and HMB (just kidding:)
Let me tell yall a dirty little secret. Sometimes I take a multivitamin. I know, I know, “oh holier than thou Naturalman partakes of a produced substance to possibly enchance his workouts and physique.” Yes, I admit it. But, I assure you every time I pop one, it makes me feel dirty, and…well, a little ‘unnatural.’
