Lost a few pounds, not by design. Figure I will take a few weeks of not force feeding and see where my weight ends up.
Changed the settings on my BF monitor, updated my age and the BF% jumped to 19.2 and offended me. Whatever, it is what it is and I will be using the proper age moving forward, so 19.2 is the new 17.8. Mirror tells me the algorithm is wrong, so there is that.
T minus 18 hours.
Sat on my ass and drove for sixteen hours today.
Vipassana was a good base.
Vegas baby!

Iām out of sorts after driving and staying in a hotel. Las Vegas isnāt like I remember it, and I donāt eat well on the road - had one meal yesterday at 11 and am not hungry. Itās tough to leave the hotel - fifteen minute walk to my car parked in the hotel lot, hard to find my way out of the hotel, nothing is convenient and everything is expensive. Two days ago I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a Diet Coke at Johnny Rockets in the food court at the Luxor, it was $34.
Iām getting old, clearly. The drive crippled me, felt like I had taken a dozen or more kidney punches and my right knee was sore because I donāt have Cruise Control on my ancient truck, lol. I couldnāt figure out how to get out of self park yesterday and the gate ate my room card so I had to push the help intercom, then go back through registration later to get a new room card.
The good news is that I am rolling with the punches and keeping a good attitude.
I head to Flagstaff tomorrow, hang out in Sedona on Thursday before driving down to Surprise. Iām staying in an AirBnB in surprise for four days so I hope to be able to eat healthier.
Gym was āI Aināt Doing Jack Shitā template, in and out in twenty five minutes.
Itās changed quite a bit. I was there a bunch in the mid and late 90s. My dad would do business there and take me with him, and it just so happened to be when it was trying to be āfamily friendlyā, which is pretty goofy to think about now. Still, because of that time there, my dopamine centers light up whenever I happen upon a dingy buffet in a smoky casinoā¦which probably isnāt great.
Looks like the house still wins at the restaurants too!
But good to see you still on the move.
I was here twenty five years ago when the buffet was a thing. I flew into Phoenix and grabbed a company car to move it to Sacramento.
Warning, incoming bad experience.
Coming up the grade near Lake Meade, a lady made a left turn in front of me and I T-Boned her, killed the passenger.
It wasnāt my fault, the other driver was cited, but it hangs over me every day of my life.
The buffet at the Luxor is now $22 but only T-S. Everything is brutally expensive. Itās like Disney.
I am glad I came, glad I saw, and I like the rest of the community, for the most part. I have a friend from NY that is teaching here, but the Strip is no bueno.
2-13-25 travel day
Drove LV to Flagstaff last night, met an ex for breakfast in Sedona. She had crushed my soul so it was a little awkward. We are still friends, but awkward for me. I was such a different person then.
Drove down to Surprise after breakfast, got to the stadium about 1PM and picked up my tickets for the next four days. Headed to a laundromat and did laundry, shopped a bit, then checked into my AirBnB. Tiny room in a house with the owners, their two dogs and two cats. Wife is out of town so hanging with the husband, heās broish so it is cool.
A little bit of context - I went to Oregon State and have always been a baseball fan. It is a beautiful game. We were pretty good when I went there, but got really good twenty years after I graduated. Currently ranked in the top ten of all of the major polls, as high as seventh in one of them. We have five players that will go in the first round in next years MLB draft.
The Beavs have opened the last few years in the Sanderson Ford Classic in Surprise Arizona and I have been here for it about eight times. It never gets old. Itās 71 here today, 26 and snowing in Portland.
Dreading the drive to Round Rock, outside of Austin, but hey, itās not for another four days so I will dig the warm weather and watching the Beavs in the meantime.
Gym has been elusive so I have been eating less - one meal a day with snacks. I am sure my performance will suffer, but I am digging the travel life.
To an extent - my truck is twenty years old and the check engine light keeps flirting with me. Not a big deal unless you consider being miles and hours from any inhabited city problematic, lol.
Live on the edge or else you are taking up space.
Mine has been on so long I get startled if it doesnāt light up! .
I hear you though. I just drive short distances in well populated areas with it. Like, no way Iām taking it down into the deep hollows of West Virginia or anything.
Lol - I left Portland at 9PM, was in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, it was twenty degrees.
I will drive during the day moving forward, will get it code read at a local parts store. I have another 5K miles in front of me.
