Yeah, she wants to lose some belly fat and to add some muscle, but has the typical concern of looking like a man, but, is totally into getting shredded.
Because of her yoga background, she has really good core strength. She walks a lot so her legs are strong as well, but her upper body strength is lacking.
She’ll kill it.
I’ve encouraged before pics so she can measure progress, so we’ll see what happens. We’re going to workout again Tuesday and Thursday, then I leave for two weeks and she’ll be on her own. I suspect she will get hooked.
If I had a dollar for every time someone of the female anatomy said that to me, I’d have about 100$ lol. Most times it just take some courage and research. What’s cool about the human body is that with enough diligence, you can shape it to look exactly how you wish. Even if chicks get a bit bulkier than they’d like, with a roaring metabolism it isn’t too much of a hassle to just lean down. The muscle building part gets more difficult obviously, but by that time you’re already swole and sexy lol
Broke down and bought a scale today - a cheap drug store one that still measures bodyfat, bone mass, BMI, muscle percentage, and calculates your BMR - $19.99 at Walgreens.
Of course, rushed back to the RV, set it up and read the directions that warn about inaccuracies for bodybuilders and athletes.
Got me at 182.8 at 4:30 PM, so I’m certainly down a few since leaving home on June 24th. Bodyfat was 16.1% which I know is inaccurate, but I’m okay with that. Pretty sure I would be mid twelves at home and on my Omron, which is fine. Think I was 185 and 13ish when I left home, so all good.
Plan on continuing to lean out with low calories and pumpy type workouts with more LISS. Then, when I get back to NY at the end of August I’ll reverse diet and do some sort of mass gaining workout, probably just a modified SS type gig.
Packing up and getting ready to drive to Santa Cruz, California. I’ve been in the RV for 23 days now and am leaving her behind to drive to Santa Cruz, will stay in the family cabin until 8/8 and then head back for three nights in Sedona before heading East for New York.
I’m pretty sad, I love it here in Sedona and certainly enjoy the company, but am looking forward to seeing my kids, whom I have not seen since June 23rd.
I expect to work out three times a week while I am in Santa Cruz and will try to increase my calories some, but I’m not going to sweat it. I’m pretty okay where I am at, 181, and will just eat intuitively and see what happens. Would like to continue to get leaner, but not going to worry.
It’s been ages since I have been to the gym but I got started back yesterday. I lifted once last week and was really sore for days so I modified it for now and am going to do an upper and lower split with light weights and a basic LP to get some strength back. Yesterday was upper - OHP, Lat Pull Downs, BP, Rows, curls, and tricep push downs. Today was leg press, leg extensions, leg curls, and twenty minutes of LISS (Incline treadmill). I did 4x10 for both. Next time I will add a rep until I get to 12 reps, then I will drop to eight and add five pounds to all of my lifts and repeat. After a few weeks of this, and some more cutting, I’m going to switch back to a two day 5/3/1 template where I work out four times per week and finish a cycle in two weeks with an eye to slowly adding some mass.
I’m down to 175 and have officially entered DYEL territory.
I actually like this weight and plan on dropping to 170 before leveling off and then gaining very slowly back to 175-180. I know the SS guys think that normal adult males weigh in excess of 200 but IDGAF. For me, I need to be lean to prevent apnea and high blood sugar.
After my debacle in Barstow I’ve found some balance in my life. I’ve moved out of my home and into an apartment and that has made a world of difference. I’ve been meditating and doing breathwork and am feeling more connected to the world. I know that sounds like a lot of black magic and shit, but it seems to be working for me.
I’ve been lurking for the last few weeks, catching up on everybody’s threads, except for the Flame Free Confession Thread which is a monster, but it’s on my to do list. Finally got to the gym so I figured I’d post.
Upper body today, 4x11. Added in Face Pulls and some weighted ab machine crunches.
Third day in a row at the gym since my break and while I’m weak AF, I do see some changes already. I figure after ten weeks in a caloric deficit, getting down to 175 and lowering my BF%, that my body is well prepped to respond to resistance training.I’m just very disappointed in the loss of strength but figure it will come back soon enough and I just keep reminding myself that this is a marathon and not a sprint.
I’ll hit legs tomorrow and do some LISS. I’m headed back to Sedona on Wednesday and won’t have gym access for a few days but my friend in Sedona bought some Bowflex adjustable dumbbells so I can do some pumpey stuff with those to maintain while I’m there. I’ll probably get some long hikes in as well so as long as I eat well, which I will, I should still make some progress.
Back from Sedona, back to work. Pretty tired yesterday so got back into the gym today for some pumpy stuff. I’m going to be pretty busy so I’m probably looking at a three times a week routine for a while, figure I probably won’t be adding much lean body mass doing that but we’ll see. Going to try adding in a few more calories this week, try to gain a half pound a week or so. Consistency is obviously my main goal. Things are a little bit out of sorts with the new apartment, but it’s all good.
Shockingly good. I guess I had no idea how miserable I was living in the house and moving out has been phenomenal. My wife is a good person, just not the right one for me. It’s been tough trying to schedule time with my kids - she’s 14, he’s eleven - because she’s pissed off at me, but it’s slowly working itself out.
I’ve gotten into a bunch of spiritual shit which has been really helpful. I’m not saying it’s real, or valid, but it’s working for me.
On the surface my life pretty much looks like a train wreck, but it’s actually pretty awesome.
Full body with amraps, 3x9 today. Felt good to have a little consistency. Hopefully I get to the gym on Saturday for 3x10’s.
I modified my curls and tri PD’s today after having read some shit on T-Nation, I did 100 reps each. It took me three sets - 45, 30, 25 - and I got a pretty good pump out of it.
Things seem to be coming back pretty quickly - I was 182 this morning and looking fuller. I’m weaning myself off caffeine and my sweet tooth has been raging, but the body comp doesn’t seem to be suffering for now.
Going to an upper lower split so I can add in more chest and shoulder work, think I’m lagging in those two areas.
Did upper body today - BP, OHP, Rows, Pull downs, Curls, Tri Pushdowns, face pulls, and chest flyes. All 3x10 with amrap on final set, except for curls, TPD’s FP’s and Flys - those were 100 reps in 4 sets.
