Ha, thanks man.

I won’t be feeling so strong tomorrow because Matt Rhodes, Vincent Dizenzo, and Chad Smith will be training at my gym tomorrow night. They’re doing a seminar Saturday, but wanted to get some training in the day before since we recently moved to a new location. That’s going to be humbling.

Nice work. I did the safety bar back raises today, damn those toasted my lower back and glutes.

Jelly. Will your gym’s youtube channel be putting up any footage of the seminar?

If Murph will put footage of this year’s seminar it will be like this. Whenever we have seminar/training days, it’s more of hands on coaching. I believe we only have 50 slots whenever we have these because the guys like to work one on one with people who signed up.

If I can find my video camera, I’ll tape some of Friday night’s training and post it on the log. I’ve had the honor (I guess?) of training with these bear men, so I get “free” seminars whenever I’m able to drive down to CT to train.

Thanks man. I’m glad you like the back raise variation. Oh, and let me know if you ever have questions in regards to your training, if you want me to look at it, or give advice.

Don’t be a stranger guys!

To be honest, Friday night is probably going to be like this holocaust of a training session.

Then getting burgers, beers, and fail on picking up loose women after.

Pete says you should teach me how to be strong. There’s no strong people in the dungeon.

So um, come to Boston?

I don’t think I’ll be seeing any of them till either December or March

You are smart and strong. I will be following.

Thanks man! I really strive to be more of a cerebral lifter than anything else.

I’d love to have you guys tell me what do want out of this log btw. Any suggestions on what to talk about in here would be nice.

Just keep talking about metal and how to structure a successful powerlifting routine (I’m pretty much just reading your routines to see how a successful powerlifter does things and why). There are now two guys here who are in the (light) 220’s, are strong like Bull and both running Sheiko routines. Coincidence? I think not.

The routine you ran leading up to your last meet was inspiring, so just keep up the good work man. Also, i can’t wait to read about the crushing of the Doucher McCockface (if he can resist trying to cheat. Again).

x2. I’m planning on running Sheiko in about a month or so, then giving Mike Tuchscherer’s RTS a go. What are your thoughts on Sheiko and RTS?

I think Sheiko and RTS are great. It’s funny, at the moment, Mike Tuchscherer is my favorite lifter, I do take some of his influence in RTS method, but I’m actually more interested in his Block Periodization set up. The way he runs his training in general is actually pretty cool, and when Stronghold was coming up with ideas for me for my past couple of meets, we both were looking into how Tuchscherer sets up his training for more advance level stuff. Ideas such as Concentrated Loading, and Fatigue Percents were crucial when they were being set up in my Accumulation and Transmutation blocks. These are sometimes weird concepts to get, and trying to implement them is even harder. The first time we tried these ideas was when I was training for the Connecticut’s Europa Battle of Champions, and I didn’t super-compensate/peaked as we had hope for, and it turns out I needed to do even MORE volume during my Accumulation Block in order to get the desired results, so it does take some trial and error to figure out how to get these training ideas right.

Sheiko I think is a great training system because it has good planning structures built in and you can use those to help you if you’re struggling to learn the planning process. Sheiko is best used as an annual plan because believe it or not, #29 and #37 are similiar to the Accumulation Idea, and #32 can easily be seen as the Realization Block in the Sheiko method.

“In addition, there are three periods in Sheiko Training: the preparatory period where the foundation is established, the emulative period, which is more advanced and the transitive period, which prepares you to renew the cycle again. During the preparatory period volume is higher and intensity lower. Conversely, during the emulative period, intensity is higher but volume lower. And finally, during the transitive period, volume, intensity and the number of weekly workouts are all reduced in order to give the body time to recuperate.”

I do think though, it’s best to stick with either of these training system for an overall annual plan. The worst thing you can do is do Sheiko for a month, and then program hop, since each Sheiko program is a small piece of a bigger overall plan. I’d pick a meet and “go backwards” and start planning how to peak for it because these training styles can be very brutal, and I feel there’s no sense in doing them unless you’re peaking for a meet.

The reason I’m doing Sheiko right now is because it’s very similar to the way I was training before, and coming off a meet, my body needed to get into shape again, so doing a pre-written Accumulation Block like #29 seemed like a good idea to get back into training. Depending on how long my offseason will be, I’ll be staying on Sheiko until I’m about 12 weeks out from my next meet, and then you guys can see how I prep for a meet.

Haha, thanks man, I’m very flattered.

As for McCockface, are you referring to Murph’s blog post that I posted on the other log?

We’re going to the Arnold, so I can hit on the fitness chicks, insult them on their insecurities, get slapped, and then proceed to go to their hotel room and blow a load on their dreams.

Teach us your Block Periodization ways.
