Too much awesomeness in here for me to not follow. You are STRONG! I hope I can learn a thing or two while observing your training and advice to others.

“I’m assuming you read my guitar lesson/jam with Tosin and Javier?”

Um, no. Was this posted over on IM? I’m dillinger over there BTW. I’d love to read about it though. That had to be intense.

Thanks man! I hope I meet your expectations

When I first saw that that the log was resurrected, I was really upset that you were already on page 3 and I didn’t even know it existed. And then I realized that it was only a day old and that this is YOUR log and you never shut up.

And I am disappointed in the lack of spinal erectors. Way to drop the ball, Brown Bear.

Yeah, the guys are on tour, and whenever they are, they give out guitar lessons to anyone that emails them. It was pretty cool, the two guys are very laid back and extremely helpful. It was similar to this

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh Hai there! I briefly mentioned it to tomtom yesterday when we were having our 20min phone sex session that I was going to bring back my training log.

You know how geeky I get when I talk about training, I miss you 2 'tards I mentioned to tomtom that we need to start planning another get together so I can see watch you guys run hills while I’m eating Moe’s or 5 Guy’s

P.S. I don’t know if the world is ready to handle my spinal erectors, the soul patch is just too over-powering

Impressive lifting. I shall be following and attempting to pick up tid bits of knowledge. That power clean instructional video was a good watch.

Thanks man, I appreciate the compliment.

Nikita is an impressive lifter to watch, he’s like 132lbs and he’s cleaning in the 3’s. Very impressive guy to watch. I’ll try to keep you guys up to date whenever we have instructional videos and of the like.

Do me a favor, and whenever you bust his balls, keep telling him how approachable he is.

Oh, and I approve of all his banana-related antics.

haha, the only person less approachable than him is me

Can you elaborate on why you feel like illegal wides, front squats, and sumo deadlifts are so effective for building the big 3?

In4thislog. Teach me how to get strong

Another IM log lurker?

Well I compete in the Sumo when I’m equipped and Conventional when I’m raw.

I feel that I get a direct carry over from Front Squats onto my conventional deadlift, because my foot position is nearly identical when I’m doing either. Off the floor strength in the conventional deadlift requires almost all quad strength, so training one will help the other. My best Front Squat is about 70% of my best deadlift, so I have an idea where each of them are without having to always max out to find out. I can also exclusively train my front squat and my back squat will go up.

As for the illegal wides, a shorter stroke = more efficient. With illegal wide grips in regards to raw pressing, I feel is the ideal assistance lift to increase everyone’s off the chest strength. Everyone is weakest at the bottom position of the bench press, training it with illegal wides help develop bottom end strength, and it helps the lifter maintain ideal technique by benching more frequently with the only change in exercise as with the grip. I still keep everything the same, like leg drive, arch, elbows tucked, flare, etc.

Anything else? I might have missed something in my explanation lol

I ran across your log on IM and followed it for a while, tried to get a feel for block periodization lol.

Thanks for the explanations man, though I thought did front squats to help your back squats, but deadlift makes sense. Is there a special exercise you prefer to help your squats then?

Block Periodization is pretty conceptual in nature, if you have questions about it, I’d ask Stronghold/Fightingtiger about it (Who should be posting in here soon)

For me, Back Squatting is more technique than anything else when it comes to squatting, regardless of the style. Front Squats, Sumo/Conventional Deadlifts, and Block Pulls all help, but for me, Squatting in general for whatever style I compete in (USAPL, IPA, Olympic, RAW/Multi-Ply) is what works for me best.

In for the tacos. Whaddup.

Oh, NOW it’s a party.

Let’s talk block periodization taco bender.

Week 2, Day 2

General Dynamic Warm Up

Shoulder Specific Warm up

Deficit Deadlift, Beltless

50% 1x3 285lbs
60% 1x3 340lbs
70% 2x3 405lbs
75% 4x2 425lbs

Bench Press, Paused, Pinky on Rings

50% 1x6 205lbs
60% 2x6 245lbs
65% 4x6 265lbs

Facepulls - 5x10

Block Pulls

55% 1x4 350lbs
65% 1x4 410lbs
75% 2x4 475lbs - belt on
80% 4x4 505lbs - belt on

Lunges - 5x5

I took 10% of 630 (567) to determine the training max for Deficit Pulls. Lower back is pretty jacked up, but I’m feeling strong.

Strong like a boss.
