For some reason this was freaking exhausting. I ordered elbow sleeves to help with the beating they are taking.
I don’t know why it would be exhausting. Are you taking your iron pills?
Seriously though, it doesn’t seem like that long ago that you were testing the squat waters with 245 and now you’re doing a crap ton of volume at 40lbs more.

I’ve never taken iron pills before, do you? More importantly do you think they would be helpful?

Try some crystalmeth, that’ll get you going.

Is that a new Biotest supplement? I’m up for anything that gives me energy :)
Unlike the crappy polluted street stuff, Biotest crystalmeth is molecularly distilled, purified and micronized for easy mixing with your favorite periworkout drink, which is of course Anaconda plus MAG-10.

I have a quick question: did you set your squat max with your actual max or is it adjusted kind of like the 5/3/1 is?
I set it to the number I was 100% sure I could get a meet level 1RM which was 355. I think I could have hit 365 close enough.
So short answer is I knocked 10lbs off. Lots of people on Smolov suggest knocking 10% off of your 1RM max just in case but I thought what the hell and just went with it.
your one of the most stubborn loggers I know. Like me, you will conquor this program or die trying.
would you mind adding the percentage of the max your repping to give me an idea of the effort? It could be my next ass kicking program.
I’ve upgraded my preworkout to something with a hella more kick than I’m used to to push through. It’s main ingredient is comparable to amphetamines. Probably a better choice than meth

That smolov is a truckfull of volume.

Now you have me curious about your supplement.
This is the base mesocycle lay out:
Week 1
Monday 70% x 9 x 4
Wednesday 75% x 7 x 5
Friday 80% x 5 x 7
Saturday 85% x 3 x 10
Week 2
Monday 70% + 20-25 pounds x 9 x 4
Wednesday 75% + 20-25 pounds x 7 x 5
Friday 80% + 20-25 pounds x 5 x 7
Saturday 85% + 20-25 pounds x 3 x 10
Week 3
Monday 70% + 30-35 pounds x 9 x 4
Wednesday 75% + 30-35 pounds x 7 x 5
Friday 80% + 30-35 pounds x 5 x 7
Saturday 85% + 30-35 pounds x 3 x 10
Week 4
Monday REST
Wednesday REST
Friday Prikida: work up to a near max single
Saturday Prikida: work up to a near max single
In the second and third weeks you just add weight to you first week percentages.

basically a crap load of volume at 80-85%
same mentality as Sheiko. I will be curious to gage both our results since we have had such a good swing on 5.3.1
It will basically test to see if it is better to work out near your maxes at low reps vs 85% high reps.
I will pm supps info in order to not infuriate the TN mods.
Yep, though Smolov’s weight jumps after the first week are a lot more aggressive. Day four of the first week is 85% but a week later with the 20lb jump its more like 90-91%.
I was very tempted to try Smolov but decided against it but it inspired me to look at other programs and then, ultimately decide to stay with the 4 week Prilipin table based cycle I’m currently doing.
When I looked at the smolov calculator with my current max, it looked crazy. I’ll be keeping an eye on you. How old are you now? I wonder how much age affects the effectiveness.
Depending on how you make out, I may rethink the insanity.
Smolov for squats seems hard enough but doing a JR. cycle of bench is pure insanity… I hope it works for you but if it doesn’t do count the program as bad but try it again and only do one or the other. and let your other lifts maintain where they are at while the one you focus on grows.
