The Path to Paradise Begins in Hell

You always give everything your all. That is one of your major strengths.

Go get 'em!

And, at the very least you will be entertaining us.

Five minutes ultra slow on bike and fine minutes old man shuffle on track to help ward off DOMS.

Alright Joey, I’m looking forward to this. I used to consider myself a squat guy, til I saw how much the strong guys were squatting, but I’ve always wanted to try smolov. I probably won’t ever be able to because of my hip, but now, I can squat vicariously through you. oorah

Wow that looks easy typed out like that.

Ha ha! I wish you can use different fonts to extenuate the hard work put in to these sessions.

This is interesting…I’ll sit and watch the results

Don’t you hate when your blood and sweat only fills up a couple of lines?

How is your overall energy since you’ve started? I find the idea very tempting but I’m afraid it will crush me overall.

Right now I’m fine but I’ve just really started. This Sunday after the Thursday-Friday back to back and then the high rep day on Sunday I’ll know for certain.

If I was only doing squats that day would be fairly easy but the Smolov jr bench cycle was where thigns got tough.

About an hour and twenty minutes or so. I warmed up nice and slow so that took up some time. My impression is that the days lifting takes longer as you progress through the week from high rep low set days to his set low rep days.

Smolov Base Mesocycle

Week 1 Day 3

Squats

Warm ups
5x135
5x175
5x205
5x225

Working

7x5x285

Smolov Jr Bench Cycle

Warm Ups

5x135
5x185

Working

8x4x210

For some reason this was freaking exhausting. I ordered elbow sleeves to help with the beating they are taking.

I don’t know why it would be exhausting. Are you taking your iron pills?

Seriously though, it doesn’t seem like that long ago that you were testing the squat waters with 245 and now you’re doing a crap ton of volume at 40lbs more.

that is a crap ton of work. good job

You need to eat more food.
