The Path to Paradise Begins in Hell

why do you punish yourself with a boring deload??? I know you have the imagination to come up with something fun that doesn’t put too much stress on your body.

can’t wait for my deload

I say take the somolov challenge - you have plenty of time to get back on 5/3/1 for september.

Smolov. Argy. I will certainly follow if you go this route. I’ve only done Smolov Jr. Think I’ve said that before. And it’s really tough. I’d love to be able to run a Smolov cycle right now.

Joe - no deload since september?
not that Im smart enough to take one myself.

I actually enoyed the delaod weeks while on 531-
very solid training Joe

Thanks, mostly I just try to pick a effective program and then follow it as well as I can.

You are, of course, absilutely right.

Back when I deloaded regularly on 5/3/1 I would do the main lift deload and then just do whatever.

I am going to run Smolov with Smolov jr for bench as I couldn’t figure out another method for working bench that would work.

Yeah smart training is not a hallmark of this log.

Mine either…

Base Mesocycle Week 1 Day 1

4x9x250

Smolov Jr. Bench Cycle Week 1 Day 1

6x6x185

I couldn’t figure out what sort of bench routine to do while I did Smolov so I figured what the hell I’ll do a Smolov Jr cycle for bench. Probably a mistake but what the hell.

Pretty sure thats the most reps I’ve ever done at 250.

This ought to be very interesting.

Eat, eat, eat!

I think you should change your log title. Something more uplifting. Here are a few suggestions:

Succeeding at Smolov
Surmounting Smolov
Subjugating Smolov

You get the idea.

I can’t wait to see how you do with this program. Major vicarious following along on my end.

The Smolov discussion say eat 4,000 cals/day but I’m not sure I could eat that much if I tried. I’m going to do my best to get the food in though.

4x9x250… Damn Joe! Now I’m really tired!

If I make it through the base mesocycle I will change it to Stomping Smolov.

I just don’t want to be that guy who talks about how he is going to own this, to smash that and then always fails to do so.

be very curious to see how you respond to smolov, nice work

Honestly Pete me too.

Squatting has always been my worst lift and I figure this should fix that if I can get through it.

Right now I’m just staying focused on getting through the base mesocycle. Then teh switching should give me enough of a break to prepare for the intense phase.

I’m going to give it my all because I really hate to fail at anything.

Joe. not sure why this statement bothers me…
Fail, the way you are using the word, is NOT something I associate even a smidgeon with you!

4000 kcal CLEAN = Tough!

4000 kcal Not so CLEAN = Not so tough!

I’m struggling with 3200 and need to push to 3500.

Good luck my man! Your body is gonna want some fuel.

4000 cals a day is A LOT!! Sounds fantastic. I’m sure I could do it

I’m with Up, there’s no failing at Smolov! Surmounting Smolov indeed!

Looks fun, Joe. I’m following along!

I’d go with Mounting Smolov.

I’m with Pete and ddot.

And Ms. Masch, “fun” and “Smolov” don’t intersect! Although I do think there should be a vodka named Smolov.
