congrats on your 10k ![]()
Nikki: I miss you around these parts. No apologies. I absolutely need to practice backing off on some of my sets. I’m a little rep pr compulsive.
Charlie: I like 5-3-1 for the scheduled deload too. Knowing one is always just around the corner helps me hang tough when I’m feeling tired–it’s like the sight of a finish line in a race-- you don’t stop pushing when you’re almost there.
Cbear: Thanks. I do appreciate the advice. I read a post of Wendler’s today–“don’t go for max reps on all the sets.” And he’s advised that repeatedly–and still I don’t listen. I don’t know what the fuck my problem is. I don’t think I know more than him or anyone here. Cal’s right. I’m a rep pr addict. Unfortunately, the intervention here didn’t work. Had to get my DL rep pr today–pulled till I was shaky.
Thanks Mim.
Cal: I don’t usually finish that high in my age group, and my time (while a pr for me) really doesn’t support that kind of placing in most races. Still feels good though, and I’m going to take it.
ALexus: out and back makes for good people watching. I always marvel at how you can’t judge an athlete by their body. The “how the hell is that person in front of me” moments are priceless.
Thanks Masch. I like training. Generally, I think I’m training because I want improved athletic performance. But sometimes, I wonder if I just train because I like to train, and I do what I want, even if it is counter productive, because I simply love doing it. I’m a carpe diem kind of athlete–I’m not much for saving it for later.
Thanks snap and lula.
Kimba: I have no doubt you can surpass me as a runnner. You just have to get through this year of acclimation.
Thanks spidey and frenchie.

Training 3-3-3 dls
Dls
135x10
155x3
175x3
195x15 (+3 rep pr)
BBB 155x10x5
HLR BWx10x4
GHR BWx5x4 (I’m still don’t think I’m doing these right. But, my left hamstring got a little crampy during my last set so maybe I’m getting better).

I really wish chickens were 4-legged creatures and that they had bigger legs or less tasty legs. Today, after dling, I ate the legs off 3 of those poor suckers in the span of minutes. I would have eaten more, but we didn’t have any more.
One meal + one person=three dead chickens. I don’t feel good about that math.
OH! Congratulations on your spectacular run! You even placed!!
And yes it is perfectly ok to train because you like to train. This is my main motivation. I like doing it!
And nobody can accuse you of not “owning” the weight when you are reping the hell out of it. 195x15.
WHOOT!

should we assumer they were cooked ![]()
Eh I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t believe in that cut and paste advice about when to push it and when to back off. People are snowflakes!.. dammit.
It warms my heart to know that we train similarly. It disheartens me to see you doing 195 x 15. I’m nowhere near such awesome-ness ;D
Your chicken observations cracked me up! Thanks for the laugh.
You are a strong little beastie. 195 is my one-rep max.
