You still have ALL the handstand moves. What a rock star! I’m still living vicariously through your gymnastics, so thanks for posting the vid.
Bench rep PR and playing… sounds like a great day.

wow you make standing on your hands look easy. i know it isn’t, though. beautiful, yeah.
Alexus has the right of it - you make it look effortless. I wish I had your control.
I gather you must be able to do splits pretty well judging from the leg positions.
Cbear: And your chosen career is…? A secret? Re the Handstands: get to practicing. Plan to fall. Watch the persistence of toddler learning to walk and emulate.
Kimba: Thanks. A TKE is a terminal knee extension. I’m surprised your Doc didn’t recommend them for your knee rehab. EliteFTS.com - Buddy Morris 2005 Interview Part 2 - YouTube
Thanks Brute!!
Thanks Bre: Yes get to work on those handstands! 2 years of headstands is about 2 years too many. You could also try shoulder stands. Those are way cooler than headstands. Yoga Inversions - YouTube get to work!
Thank you Nikki. Hopefully, I can keep progressing. I think a BW bench is in reach! And I’m excited.
Thanks Frenchie!
Veggie: I was trying to think of other leg positions…but I can’t come up with anything. I need to work on planches now. Those are really beautiful.
Alexus: Handstands can become easy with practice. You just have to do the time. But, I think it is skill that pretty much anybody can learn.
Cal: I’ve been pushing the flexibility, and I can oversplit my right and left legs now. But my box split still sucks. I need to work on that one. Uggh.
Nadia, that TKE video was SO helpful. In fact, one of my PT exercises is the low box heel-touch TKE. I just never heard it called that.
Which reminds me that I haven’t done that exercise in awhile. Bad Kimba.
Training 5-5-5 DLS
I fucking killed it today. I almost balked on my BBB sets, but then I shamed myself into a BBB pr and got a total endorphin rush before I was finished. I got more aggressive and more explosive through each set. I want to pull 300 someday. And I mean that. And today,I trained like I mean it.
Bar x20
135x5
145x5
165x5
180x15 (+4 Rep PR)
BBB 155x10x5
GHR BWx12x5
HLR BWx10x5
Slammed a protein shake, foam rolled.
3 mile run 26:08
Iced my hip/ass region, ate left over strip steak and broccoli, hot bath, cold shower, more foam rolling.
I feel good.
Kimba: Glad that helped. I’m going to try these next. http://www.youtube.com/user/smittydiesel#p/search/0/XGRYopJKUe8
Heh, I tried the forearm stand thing once at the gym after seeing an older vid you recommended. I couldn’t even get close.
Those are some nice positions by the yoga ladies but the one in blue is uncomfortably thin.
Nadia! You’re doing so great over here! Running, and gymnastics, and moving on your bench. Awesomeness! And that’s a lot of GHRs. Glad your hip is feeling OK. Strip steak YUM. I need to learn some good beef recipes.
Awesome DL pr, you’ll be pulling 300 next month!
You’re rockin it KISS style Babe ;D
yes, iz sekret.
pull 300= WINNING!!
Bummer, I can’t see the “what’s next” video.
Killed it, indeed! Someone is deadlift-hungry and I think it is you.
hmm… maybe i will try handstands. i haven’t because i’m afraid of falling. still have this fear of falling funny on my feet and hurting them. only one way to get over that, though. i’d love to be able to do handstand push-ups. then my bodyweight horizontal push-pull circuit would be complete ![]()
go 300! ![]()
oh you’ll have that 300 nadia! its waiting for you and ready ![]()
RAWR!!!
Cal: What did you have trouble with? Kicking to verticle or balancing when you got up there?
Thanks Puff. My husband is the cook in our house–and a good one. I’d starve without him.
Nikki: A 300 pull next month! You’re an optimist. I love that. Me, I’m giving myself 2 years. Progress is so hard to predict. I’ve made a lot lately, but plateaus can be long and arduous.
Cbear: Secrets are fun. I’m going to keep guessing. Next guess. Bounty hunter. Am I getting warmer?
Kimba: Yes. I love the DL. But, it may be part of my hip problem–which would make me very sad. I don’t want to have to back off of it. But I might have to. Uckfay.
Alexus: You could do handstands against a wall to reduce the risk of falling. Start with your back to the wall, put your hands down in front of you and walk your feet up. But eventually, if you want to free stand your handstand, falls are inevitable. But, I’ve never seen anyone get hurt falling out of a handstand. And I think it would be most unusual to hurt your feet–but then again I’m not sure how limited your ankle motion is.
Frenchie: 300 seems like a dream. But when I started so did 225. So who knows what I’ll be able to do with time and effort.
Brute: I’m so pleased you think I can pull 300. My confidence is growing.
Mim: I was feeling powerful that day. Trying really hard, feels really good.

Training 3-3-3 MP
I nearly chickened out of this workout–because of the pullups–not the MP. I really hate that pullups are a BW exercise where BW matters. So today, after a bad week of nutrition and sleep + cinco de mayo bloat, I thought today is really not the best day to pull. I know that thinking is such a cop out. I’m glad I didn’t give in to it. When things aren’t perfect it just means you have to try harder.
MP
45x10x1
52.5x3
60x3
67.5x5 (I don’t think I did a good job resetting my MP numbers).
BBB 45x5x10.
Pullups 10x1; 3x8; 3x7; 4x5. This was the assingment I was asked to do, and I got them. All clean.
3 mile run
Hip is still not 100%. And I’m now in the sorry place where my conditioning has dropped off to the point where a 3 mile run feels far enough. Remember my first post, when I ran an 8 mile warm up before DLing? What is happening to me?
I’m very optimistic, especially when I know that it’s TOTALLY possible. Go get 'em tiger.
No wonder your back is so awesome (like I needed confirmation) but those pull-ups are awesome! Way to not give in to thinking of chickening out. It’s a big battle for me a lot of the time too, but when you cheat yourself, you’re literally cheating yourself lol
The non steady-state cardio person in me will say that you got sane and rightfully think that 3 miles is good enough versus 8 miles as a warm-up… =D
Some fine deadlifting here. And this:
“Plan to fall. Watch the persistence of toddler learning to walk and emulate.” I love.
And for what it’s worth, walking on pavement is harder on my hips than deadlifting. Sometimes it can be something as simple as the wrong shoe. But as a long time runner, I don’t have to tell you that. Do you deadlift barefoot? (sorry if I forgot).
You have some simply Awesome things going on here. Totally jealous of your running time…maybe some day, I probably need to take the running more seriously than I dosigh*
Good work sweatheart ![]()
