Nadia, that was some seriously strong work today. Look at those heavy squat singles! and weighted pullups! Color me impressed. Especially after a run.

Cal: It’s all about the distance. That’s why I like the half. 13.1 miles is an accomplishment.

Cbear: The short answer is I’m a pussy. I have only very recently overcome my fear of squatting. That fear kept me from adding weight through most of last year. Sadly, this is only my second time squatting 115 for reps. And, I’ve actually never squatted more than 115 for reps. I’m pretty reluctant to jump ahead. See, short answer, I’m a pussy.

Here are the video highlights from my training today.

Squats: 135x1; 145x1; 155x0; 155x1.

Pullups: +35lbs x1; +45x0

You should be proud of the 45# pull-ups, you got up there. Those were more like 7/8 than 1/2.
You earned a nice deload… and as I recall, you deload hard.

Mim: Aw that’s just ichiro. He’s a good guy. Likes Halloween. Thanks for the squat tips. Those sound helpful. Will work on. I’m afraid I’m trying to use my back to squat. Pullups have made it my strong spot.

Alexus: I’m a slow slow squatter. Probably the distance running has ruined me. My squatting mantra has become: “You’re just slow; you’re not weak.”

Nikki: I like your point of view on my pullups. Normally, I deload hard, but having quit on my BBB squat sets now I feel like a hyperactive puppy. I shouldn’t have done that. It appears I am finally getting used to the volume. Not Nikki volume. But,my capacity for work appears to be on the up tick.

Maschy: I do GM my squats–I’m a cheater who wants to use my back any chance I can get. I’m trying to work on my form in my BBB sets, but usually by then I’m so tired I end up reverting to survival mode, which includes Goodmorning-ing my way out of the hole.

Training: I’m supposed to be deloading, but I don’t feel tired. And I started perseverating about my next rep pullup workout of 10x7. I was never able to get passed this point last year. It was wildly frustrating for me. Probably more of head thing, than a body thing. Anyway, rather than spend more than a week worrying about it; I decided to go for it today. And I got them! Lot’s of rest btw sets, but they were all lovely and tight.

I was shaking when I finished that last set. So I took my amped up CNS for an easy 4 mile run to settle down. ANd now, I feel awesome.

I LOVED the video! Was very much rooting for you on the squats and pullups!

You have a GM problem on squats, and I cave my knees. Everyone is fighting some sort of form challenge.

But congrats! you deserve to feel super awesome - 70 pullups followed by a run is indeed AWESOME.

Chicks w/beanies that do weighted pull-ups are a rare breed. Great job.
