Training Today

AM: 6 mile run

Brunch: The most awesomest brisket and egg sandwich I have ever had. I’m certain this is relevant to my training. Ok, I don’t really care that it isn’t. It was soooo delicious though!

PM: Bench starting with my 3-3-3 week.

Bench:
45x10
45x5
65x5
70x5 (I forgot I was only supposed to do 3)
80x3
90x10 (+1 pr–grinder!)

Pullups: A single set of 10–to keep my head in the game

HLR: A single set of 20 to help my pullups

BBB Bench 70x10x5 (+5 lb)

Barbell Rows: 45x10; 65x10; 75x5; 85x5x2; 95x5

AND because I got a wild hair a bench pr 100x1! Midway through my BBB sets, I decided it would benefit me to unrack the 100lb and just hold the weight. That felt ok so I went for it. And even though I was feeling pretty tired from all the work I had already done, it went up easy! My next cycle, I hope to hit that 100lbs for reps.

100 lb bench! That is very awesome, although totally expected. Congratulations! And all this after a nice run. You are sure showing me up. :slight_smile:

Training 3-3-3 DLS

No 4 mile warm up run—I logged 25 miles over fri, sat, and sun, which was naughty of me. So, I’m in a running time out. I would prefer a spanking, but that punishment has no detterent value.

185x12 (+2 rep pr) I’m happy with the 185x12. Rather than grinding out reps until I couldn’t hold on to the bar, today, I showed some restraint and stopped when I felt my bar speed slow down on that 12th rep. Perhaps, there is hope for me.

Or perhaps not–because then, I proceeded to play a game with my BBB sets–giving myself 5 minutes to finish each superset of dls, hlrs, and ghrs. Of course, I went out too fast and didn’t use the rest time for the first 2 sets, which left me sucking wind through the 3rd set. I paced myself better through the last 2 sets, but I still felt a little naseous when I was finished–a good five minutes ahead of goal time! It’s amazing how light 135 feels through the first few reps of every BBB set, but by rep 8, that shit is heavy, and I was wimpering.

Thanks Kimba: It wasn’t very long ago that BBB was too much for me–it still kind of is, but I’m getting better at it. It must be the endurance athlete in me, but I enjoy seeing my capacity for work increase just as much as I like seeing the strength increases. And yes, we have an econo GHR from elitefts. What we save on gym membership we spend on gym equipment. Our big purchases besides the rack, bar, and weights have been the GHR and the prowler.

Training

11 1/2 hours seated at my desk or in the driver seat of my car left me arriving home late and ultimately bailing on gymnastics last night. I was tired and sore, but crap, now I have to wait another week to go. Stupid, stupid, stupid. So, I did nothing yesterday.

Today, another long day seated at my desk and working. I have to argue a case tomorrow, which I’m a little nervous about. It’s a tough panel,and although it is a part of my job, formal public speaking is not my favorite thing. May it please the court, I should have been a librarian.

Training today–a sluggish 4 mile run. Tommorrow, there will be squatting.

You are a top-notch endurance athlete. Everything you pick up must be for reps. If you had to pull 500#, you’ll force yourself to do it for 10 reps. It’s in your hard-wiring :slight_smile:

Good luck with the speech. Uhm… picture everyone in their underwear?

110x10 (+1 rep pr). Gee, these were a grind, but I was determined to get a pr and not give in to that negative voice in my head–oh you’re so tired, it’s been such a long day, blah blah blah.

BBB Squats

75x10x5 (+ 10lbs) No time games. No supersetting. Just deliberateness.

Prowler (because I really wanted to run, but schedule was non permitting) 90lbs x some distance, alternating high and low handles x until it started to rain and the green stuff on the prowler course got really slippery.

Unweighted stepups x100 (because even after pushing the prowler, I still really wanted to run)

I should’ve , could’ve, would’ve done something else … but that’s all I had today.

Wow, nice training today. Some PRs, prowler run, and high rep step-ups for the rep whore.
I’m diggin’ it.
