Been to the Drs today, suspected shoulder impingement. Been referred for an Ultrasound which will take god knows how long to happen.
Feeling really deflated, fed up of being in pain and everyday things being hard (fuck you putting a T Shirt on and fastening my seat belt) hope it picks up soon because by tomorrow I’ll have been off work a full week and I can’t afford to be off anymore so I’ll be going back regardless, which won’t be fun!
Thats the joys of the British NHS I suppose. People go on about free health care but when something like this happens it takes forever to get sorted!
I had a similar issue 5-6 years ago with my right shoulder, it took atleast 3 months to see a specialist, another 4-6 months from me seeing a specialist to getting an MRI, and then a further 18+ months for a surgery that took around 3 hours, and was discharged the same day
Rang the Radiology department at the hospital, they’v told me I’ll be waiting roughly 6 weeks for a scan.
Been to the gym tonight, tested the waters a bit.
Did 1 rep on the bench with just the bar, couldn’t get the bar to my chest without pain.
Cant get under a bar to Squat, and my knees are still suffering a bit of tendonitis from last blocks High Bar work when I tried the SSB.
Deadlifts weren’t good either, any weight pulling on my arm doesn’t feel good.
So all in all, I’m in kind of a bust, don’t know what to do with myself! My heads not in a great place, considering dropping out of the Deadlift only comp that I’ve got in 8 weeks, as I really don’t think I’m capable of training for it, and as it stands its just not something that I want to do.
Shoulder is chuffin weird, today I woke up and it feels like theres nothing wrong with it. Full ROM, no pain, no noticeable weakness… god knows! Hoping it stays this way and doesn’t go backwards tomorrow!
Whether its better or not I’m going to be pushing to get my scan ASAP, keep trying for cancellations.
Haven’t really been tracking my weight last few days, and I have been to the gym I just haven’t been able to do much so I haven’t bothered logging things!
Going forward I’m pretty much just going to be doing my Deadlift session on either a Friday or a Saturday as was previously planned out, and any other sessions I get in will just be me doing what I can manage.
My shoulder feels pretty much back to normal, and I’ll be trying to get an upper session in tomorrow but I’ll have to see how things fee when I’m in the gym! My knee on the other hand feels pretty crappy… I thought it was just a little tendonitis but I’m starting to think it may be something else, maybe a slight sprain or something.
On the upside, I’ve got my Ultrasound scan booked in for Sept 9th, so thats not too far away!
Thats the 2nd week where I’ve held close to 96kg body weight, I’ll be dropping down to maintenance for a while before I start to cut off some of the fat. Hopefully I’ve put on a good bit of muscle too, I can’t have gained all 6kg as fat surely
Got a solid Deadlift session in today, need to keep it rolling for the comp in 7 weeks. Everything else will be taking a back seat, and I’ll be slowly building them back up after my recent injuries.
