Because I think I’m ready to close up the Tattoo Parlor, but can’t stand to leave anything unfinished, I’m going to go on a posting blitz.
Video of the day’s squats. I’m getting quicker. I like that. For a long time I didn’t add weight to bar because I was so damn slow. I thought slow=weak. Then, I read one of Jim Wendler’s posts, and he said something like slow is just slow. And so it is. But still I think quicker is better.

And then I went running. Felt like the terminator. Legs felt icky to start. Solid by the end. Yeah. Cardio is some healing shit. Do it.
Hahaha. OMG cardio is so fucking heinous for me right now! Forcing myself… Can’t wait to get my cardio fitness back… I remember when it WAS healing. Thanks for the reminder that it will be again. <3
wow-I don’t know how to say this without it sounding like your previous squats were crap (which they weren’t), but the difference between the old and the most recent video is night and day. you just look so confident and in control of that weight. It’s so apparent you’ve been working on them, nice work.
Charlie: Thanks for the tips. And yes, these are my new and improved fast for me squats!
Hallowed: Cardio fitness is a bitch to get, but it really is good for you and worth the investment-- Keep after it.
Cal: Thanks. I haven’t really felt like logging much lately. But, I enjoy a lot of people on this board. So, it’s unlikely I’ll quit it for good.
Thanks print.
Mim: Yep, I’ve out grown the tattoo parlor. I don’t feel the same way about my training as when I opened it. I need a new space/gig.
THanks Lula. I’ve passed your comments on to my pullup guy, also my squat guy–I credit him .

5-5-5 Bench
Am I quoting Masch when I say bench is my Newman? Seriously. That’s about how I feel about it. I can’t seem to string together any kind of consistency or confidence with it.
Today I was supposed to do 100x5. Not even close. 100x a tres ugly 3.
I feel kind of indifferent about it in a I’m not worried way. It’s just an off lift for me right now.
On the other hand, I’m excited about squats. Still happy with my DL. And even my pullups. Running feels good. flexibility is pretty good too. Feeling good. Doing fine.
Frozenkilt: I have pretty squats? Wow, I think I love you. I’ve always wanted pretty squats. They’re getting better for sure anyway. Have you seen Lula’s? She’s my muse.
Kimba: Yep, I’m doing good. Come back to my log and update me with how you’re doing. What’s going on? How are the lungs?
++++++++++++++++++++
Really pushed the flexibility work last night. Woke up with an inflamed and angry body. Ok I can’t really blame the stretching as this week’s training was brought to you by Hostess. Obscene dietary naughtiness. Must stop.
Today.
Running. Trying to feel less like death. A hot bath. Because it was sloppy rainy out and I was cold and my gym is cold. Then coffee and DLs. Just say no to donuts.
DLs 5x165; 5x190; 3x215; 1x225; 1x250.
Some ghrs.
Grateful for the light dl day today. Sprints tomorrow. Fuck.
Epsom salt. Use it. I bought a cattle trough last week to stick in my yard for I can take them again. Works wonders. Neighbors were giving me dirty looks. I’m sure your tiny frame can sit in a tub pretty well.
Ah, that comment makes my day, thank you! (ignore the fact that it’s still 5am so there’s not a lot of competition for day making)
(hijak) Kimba, I’ve been curious how you and your lungs are doing. I debated sending smoke signals the other day. I miss seeing you posting and hope you’re healing up.
Nadia-I hope the circle of torture shows you some lovin this morning.
Stay away from ho-bag hostess and also that slut, little debbie. If you’re to be naughty, certainly we can think of better ways to be so.
Eating crap always makes my body angry. Wheat in particular. I am not full coeliac but I make a point of only eating wheaty foods on very special occassion - my joints are old and shot enough not to add further misery.
Koub: You in a cattle trough must be quite the sight! Yes, I’m all over epsom salt baths + hydrogen peroxide. My pullup guy turned me on to them. I love them.
Lula: Ha, ha. I’m a junk food crack whore what can I say.
Cal: Oops. Light DL day in terms of volume. 250 is heavy.
Mim: I foam roll before and after I run or train and before and I after I stretch. Sometimes I foam roll when I wake up in the morning before I go to work–you know if something hurts or feels tight. So, short answer anytime something feels tight or hurts and before and after any exercise–cardio, lifting, stretching. That’s what I do.
Presently, I stretch about 4x a week in the evening. I spend probably 45 minutes at it. I include some balance work and static strength work too. Both these things go well with stretching. So, I might hold lunge positions/ deep plies/ straddle L sits to start=for static strength and flexibility and balance and to warm up. Then traditional static stretching–kinda like yoga. Then dynamic–kick complexes ect. Possibly back to static to see if I can’t increase my range of motion. I’m working towards specific flexibility goals though. So, I dunno.

What do you do with the peroxide?
What she said. Never heard of that one.
The trough allows me to fully submerse myself. I go walking out in below freezing temps, with the water just rolling off steam, all in my swimming trunks. Good times…
