Oh Masch. You’re a doll. My pullup saga continues I’m afraid. It’s okay. Even if I had been able to grind out 25 today that wouldn’t have satisfied me. Don’t tell pullup guy but my goal really is to be able to do 25 pretty pullups. I want them to appear effortless. But, even ugly they allude me. Curses. Slams fist on desk. I’m going to own them. SOmeday. Mother fuckers.

NO track workout today. Just pullups. They went down like this. I didn?t get my chin up over the bar on that 21st rep. I don?t know what happened with those first few reps. I think I was trying so hard to relax I forgot tighten up to go. I felt swingy today.
Anyway, I wish I had pulled a better number. But, I feel like I own (an ugly) 20 reps now–anytime anywhere I’m good for them. And that?s not so bad.
Way to stick with it. That kind of determination is what makes you great to watch conquer her goals.
I salute 20 pullups anytime anywhere. Objectively, that is a noteworthy accomplishment although most of you probably doesn’t see it that way.

Thanks Koub. I felt it was a good effort too. And I’m happy with that. I think I’ve gotten better at pushing myself out of my comfort zone–and that pleases me.
KImba: 20 pulls is good enough for the marines (I think). So, I don’t feel too badly about them. I mean i still want 25. And I still wish they were more effortless, but it wasn’t my day. I know I’m stronger and better at pullups than that video suggests.

Yep I’m training.
5 mile run on Monday hard.
Did MP and a few chins on Tuesday.
5 mile run today. No gymnastics though. Slept poorly last night.
The running feels really good right now–effortless, effort. I’m getting my carb cardio fix this week. We’ll see how that goes. I’m supposed to be focusing on strength right now. But, I feel like running everyday and forever.

I know you’ve mentioned it in the past, but it’s just so striking to me how much you ‘row’ your pull up. Interesting how our bodies adapt.
I meant to ask, do you de-load pull-ups, when you de-load everything else?

Lou: Yeah I do appear to row my pullups. When I try to pull them straight up and down I feel like my body gets away from the bar and a I pick up a swing. Weird. Or maybe what is really weird is that even after all these likely 1000s of pullups that I have done over the past couple years I still feel awkward and inconsistent with my form…
ANd yes, I deload pullups at the same time as everything else.

I have said in the past that there are no points for artistry in my gym–I’ll take my reps as dirty as I can get them. This is no longer true. Today I amused myself through my BBB sets by paying attention to form. The goal was for rep 1 to look like rep 10 in terms of speed and form… all quick and effortless (although effortless in appearance only). Here are my scores. 8; 7; 6; 7. Ta da!
