Ok it’s done. I’m giving the scale a bath. It’s very dirty. And then I’m putting in the garbage. Fin.

FIN.
I once had my roomate lock mine in the trunk of her car. Yeah roomie was good for SOMETHING. Now I live alone and would have to throw it away.
The pullups are the pullups then N and we will just cheerlead. I DO think Cal’s suggestion of taking a break from the rep challenge aspect might be a really good thing. Weighted pulls? You’re locked in with your coach though and I know thats important to you. Well we’re here. (mainly to oogle your sexiness but um yeah)
fireworks are awesome for blowing shit up. ![]()

I never owned one - I weigh myself a couple times a year at the gym to see where I’m tracking but that is all. I’m glad to see you decided against the ensnarement of a number. You are only as powerful as that which has power over you. Be limitless.

Late in commenting about your track workout, but AWESOME stuff there! I know that I’m sick (well, indeed physically sick at the moment but I mean sick as in “sick in the head all the time”) but your descriptions make me want to go to an actual track and circle hell.[/quote]
Sorry to read about your bronchitis. That sucks. I hope the meds quiet things down asap and you can get some rest and get well soon.
Hallowed and Cal: Thanks for the care and concern. I appreciate it. I’m good.
Koub: I’m a mom. I went for the non messy kill. The scale is dead. And I think that is going to be good for me. Those are not the numbers that matter to me.
Frenchie: I’ve considered getting rid of the scale for a few days now. It was actually a hard thing to do. But, I think it’s going to be great for me. And I’m excited to be free of those numbers. And I will strive to “be limitless.” I love the sentiment.

5-3-1 Squats.
So, I did squat today. I’m a sucker for a schedule. Consistency is one of my strengths. And my home gym is super convenient.
Onward.
HA HA! I was totally going to suggest bathing the scale! especially if its battery operated.
Why not try using the scale to weight your car? should take car of it… without admitting anything. You’d be using it to…not your fault its built shotty. weak ass scale.
EDIT: its dead! DONE-ZO.

oh, this too.
Yeah, I don’t have a scale at home. I use the one at the gym. It costs money so I’m not tempted to do it every time I go. Once a week is fine to keep myself on track.
I love my scale. There are so few things in life that are controllable. My weight happens to be something that I can completely control. My daily scale visits (once in the am and once in the pm) are part of the game I play with myself. With such close monitoring, I know exactly what I can eat and what I can’t to stay at my goal weight. This information is vastly entertaining and interesting to me.
But I completely get how the scale number can be destructive. I’d like to think that I would do the same thing as you if my scale games had a negative influence on my life.

nlmain, you always say the most awesome shit.
I was going to say something like this but it was bascially just going to be like “wow, good job! Throwing out that scale should give you a good sense of freedom!”
But now I’ll just quote nlmain and add a X 2, I agree. Heh.
I’m glad you’ve gotten the destructo-scale taken care of. I’ve been there…and you told me something super wise about it a while back. For the life of me though, I can’t find it. The search continues.
My thoughts on weight v. pull-ups. Everyone gets up in arms about losing weight and losing strength. So if you happen to have a couple extra pounds, you’ve also got extra strength to pull it. So it all evens out. There.

Brute: I’m happy to be rid of the scale. To the extent any numbers matter to me, the are linked to performance. I’m just gonna keep that focus.
Cal: Yeah, I don’t think I need a scale at all. I have clothes, a mirror, my rings–plenty of feedback. 1x a week though sounds reasonable–especially when dieting for weight loss.
Kimba: Clearly your scale games work for you. You’ve done an amazing job of maintaining an incredible state of leanness over a prolonged period!
Spock: Yes, I think it was a good decision for me. Scale numbers were a distraction.
Lula: I’ve decided not to dwell at all on the relationship btw strength and weight. It is what it is. My goal is to live a certain way and that way–has nothing to do with what I weigh. Diet matters to me for sure. But I know that I am better served to measure my successes and failures there using other criteria.

So, training, dieting, and running–yes, I’m all over that shit. More or less. Don’t feel like going back over the details though. I’m generally behind in my life right now. My house is a mess. I’m swamped at work. I feel like I have a ton of personal matters to attend to. I really need to be super productive next week. And truthfully, I don’t feel like doing jack shit. Ick.
March should be a less crazy month for me–I’m hoping anyway.

Hallowed: Thanks!
I think as long as you are not using the ‘get rid of the scale,’ as a means to slack off and eat your goodie yum yums like you were.

Hope this is a good week for you.
stopping by to continue to thank you
THANKS!!! <–forever indebted:)
I hope your life chills out a bit!!
Mim: No. I’m doing better without the scale–making better choices.
Brute: I’m glad you’re doing so well with the pullups. You really are progressing so nicely. Harry is magic.

So, I’m deloading. Haven’t run since Sunday. Didn’t have time to hit the track that day either–kids had a swim meet. I did 13 hill sprints. Good enough.
Gymnastics today. Handstand walks. Horrible body position on those–sway back. The emphasis on the arch in powerlifting is still odd to me. In gymnastics, that is not a position of strength. Anyway.
Then, bhs. We used to have relay races. 1 bhs, race to white line, then 2, 3, 4 up to 6 then the next person would go. I would be a weak link on a team right now. Slow BHS and no running. I was dizzy. Still fun though.
And I did a couple front handspring front tucks. Last week was the first time I have done one of those in probably about 15 years. They leave me feeling all jacked and shaky.
That’s it. I’ll test the pullups this weekend or early next week. I’m not sure at this point.
